Gale was the better fighter, strategist

Don't know about fighter seeing how you never really hear about him fighting people, but yes he is good hunter. Gale is a good strategist, but like me he lacks a heart when it comes to war. Before I even read the part where Gale says the idea of closing of the entrances to the Nut I had thought of it. The only problem with that is killing all the innocent people in there too.
Katniss was portrayed as a selfish prick

Her father is dead, she has been in two Hunger Games, she is beat up in most of the 3rd book, and Peeta was being tortured by the capitol and she could do nothing about it. Give her a break.
why do you guys think Collins decided to get rid of most of the characters, by either death or just plain leaving?

I think she was trying to get the point across that lots of people die in war, even innocent people or the ones you like. Many people die in war so it is more realistic to show most of the people getting killed.

I was assuming he had the same overall skills Katniss did if they switched places.

Before I even read the part where Gale says the idea of closing of the entrances to the Nut I had thought of it.

I was thinking more along the lines of just blowing the entrances at the time I was reading it, to avoid suspicion of the bombers, instead of causing a rockslide. But I had no idea what resources they had so Gale's(and yours) plan was probably better.

Her father is dead, she has been in two Hunger Games, she is beat up in most of the 3rd book, and Peeta was being tortured by the capitol and she could do nothing about it. Give her a break.

I got more of the self-pity vibe. Most of what she thought and said was how horrible her situation is. When she did talk about Peeta, she said she didn't know if she could go on. It's a slightly cheap example but I don't have the books with me so I can't get a better one right now.
Nevermind that people are dying and what you're being told to do would help thousands in the war effort, YOU can't cope with what's going on, so YOU should just shirk your duties and ignore everything except you and your problems. Granted, what she was going through was hell and probably would have scarred the average person, but most other characters were getting on with their respective assignments and I don't see a reason she shouldn't have.

I see what your saying, and I agree.

Adding to what I said earlier, does anyone think the movie could have been darker? I would have a couple suggestion for the director, if it wasn't for that pesky R rating.

It could have been darker but I think they did a nice job with it.

Such as? And seeing how the director is not coming back for Catching Fire we have no idea what it will be like.

He isn't? Why? I liked the movie, even though some parts and characters were cut. Though that can't be helped because of the mass opinion that a movie shouldn't extend over 2 and a half hours. (See Avatar)

Such as?

I would have included the mayor's daughter in for a bit of airtime. The pin coming from the black market didn't have the same effect. They tried to squeeze everything in that they saw as important but that resulted in the movie feeling rushed. They were in 12, then Capitol, then arena, then back in 12. They also eliminated Katniss' ear injury, that had impact in the second book, showing that they are already planning on remaking portions. The battle scenes were quite quick and censored. I understand that kids are watching and they don't want it to be that violent, but people that have read the books already have that image of death in their mind, seeing it on the big screen isn't that different, at least to me. Not trying to generalize. Hopefully their plan to incorporate a fourth movie will leave space for more than what the first showed.
As a plus, I think they did a great job on the Capitol fashion, excluding the lack of abnormally colored skin.

From what I read he wants to do 'more personal projects' and that there was a money issue. I think it is more of the money issue.

Honestly she is not the most important character. She doesn't show up in the books that much.

It didn't feel rushed to me. I thought it was a quick pace but that is a good thing. It didn't feel like a 2 and a half hour movie.
The battle scenes were quite quick and censored.

Again I was fine with this. Especially the blood bath at the beginning of the games didn't need to be shown in all the gory details. I can handle it but you can also picture it yourself.

Hmmmm... Don't know what they are going to do about that.

Sorry for the double post here but here is a link that says why Gary Ross is not doing Catching Fire. I hope that the replacement is just as good.

You are all retards. If you want to make The Hunger Games into Twighlight then I will kill someone. But if I had to choose, I'd be Team Gale.

Ouch. Hurtful. I don't like the whole team thing either. I like both of them, but I like Peeta more if I was forced to choose between the two.

Woah. Hateful much? You can't deny the obvious similarities between the two.

A) By the time that Katniss married Peta he was no longer trying to kill her. And it is not his fault that his memories were messed with.

B) ...Does it ever say exactly when they got married?

C) Gale does ditch her and goes to District 4.

Now I am not trying to put Gale down here. I like Gale. He is a good guy. But you have to understand that Peeta understands what Katniss went through more then Gale ever will.
