Just wanted to hear what everybody thought about Paranormal Activity 1-3. I didn't think it was that scary more like creepy.

I didn't think the first was scary, rather it was boring. The only somewhat scary scenes was when Katie was dragged out of bed and through the hallway and at the end when Micah was thrown into the room. I didn't watch all of the second one, but from what I did see it was creepier than the first. And I haven't seen the third.

When the first one came out it was kind of exciting, but not scary. Maybe because watching it in the cinema with everyone who believed it was a documentary was fun.

The second was alright, better than the first, and watching it in a room with my friends who get scared easily and planning people banging on the windows made it better.

The third was terrible.

You have to watch it in the cinema with the right atmosphere to get a more genuine horror feel to it. Not in some room in your house on a lazy afternoon.

I agree with nichodemus. I watched the second one on Netflix in the middle of the day because I was bored. Watching it in the theaters would be somewhat more real.

I don't see how watching two people talk about an entity in their house for most of the time can be scary.

I also always watch horror films at night. I'm numb to most though.

Saw the first one with my brother at my house, pretty scary but lame when you find out it isn't real

all characters in this film are fictional

Second one was really good but a lot of idiots in the cinema kept on laughing and I nearly didn't get in... I was 15 and I got the tickets from down stairs yet the guy who checked the tickets when going in to see the film didn't let me in. After a while and my mum (who went to see despicable me with my older sister) getting the people from down stairs to sort it out me and my brother were finally allowed in.
Really good films, I heard that the third one was the scariest though; I really want to see it.

What exactly was scary about it to you?

I remember watching something on tv months ago (think it was a preview) where people were vomiting and crying while watching them in theaters. I don't understand why.

Ever heard of "false advertisement" or even "controll groups" which dont get paid to act like the company wants them too....so they say. which is why the reaxctions were so over dramatic. either that or they took people from the hospital and just forced them to watch it.

Ghost, you seem so unamused, even after you have told us you have grown numb to horror.

Everything about that movie is scary, and I haven't even watched it. Which probably makes it even scarier, because I don't have the actual movie to ruin all the horror that is happening in my head.
But still, a friend of mine who is the neat combination of horror enthusiast and afraid of the dark, thought it was a well build up horror movie, a good job compared to many other movies out there that work on scare chords and jump scares and all the other little tricks you can use to make a movie seem like horror.
And well, some people are immune towards certain or all aspects of horror anyway. Some might have seen so much gore and splatter, that it is just like watching a cartoon by now (even if it is entirely real and on the news), other people just doesn't have the little paranoid gene that others have, and will not find it particularly interesting that a door swings open slowly, but nothing comes in or feel the fear of anticipation when the music is building up. Some just have a really bad eyesight and can't enjoy a movie not set in full on sunshine, because screw darkness, you can't see a thing.
It's just how it is, and people are rather different when it comes to horror and terror and thrillers and the like, because people are different in general.
All I can say is that people that are continuously scared of horror movies might have had a better chance of surviving in the wild back in the non-modern-human days, because they know that when a door opens sloooooowly, it is better to jump the heck out of the window and run.

Ahem. Lot of talk from someone who has no intentions of watching the movie...

Most horror. There are still films out there that can do it for me. An example would be The Exorcism of Emily Rose. It doesn't have gore in it, rather it's creepy, and once I get to thinking about that film I'm unable to sleep. I've seen it plenty of times and it still gets to me. There's also Ju-on. Now I've ruined my sleep schedule again, I never learn.

Yes, I was curious to know what he thought was scary though. When I would go to the cinema with friends to watch horror films we all usually got scared at different parts in films, and I thought it was interesting to know why they were scared at certain parts where I was unaffected.

Of course. Something just push our buttons, I guess.

Oh, right. In my head, your request got a wrong tone of voice, so it sounded more like you didn't think much of him. Sorry about that.

Hmm, I wish I had the nerve to write an assignment on horror some time soon...

Glad to hear you found it funny. For whatever reason.
