I was thinking of games of old that can be done on sites like this, and which ones I played quite a bit. I notice there aren't any submarine type games to speak of and it occurs to me that it would be quite doable. Silent Hunter is a good example of what I mean, but I think it could be vamped up into something much better these days.
Anyway, any developer types out there interested in such a game? Perhaps working on one already?
So, I guess no one understands Silent Hunter, or, perhaps I have a really bad idea for a flash game. Just in case it is a good idea, and no one has done it (haven't seen it), and some explanation is in order:
A sub game. You are in WWII-ish scenarios. You control depth, speed, heading, periscope, targeting, aft/bow torpedo selection, damage control, and most importantly, a bit of "strategic" considerations in regards to where and when you hunt the enemy. Bad guys are spotted, hunted and tough decisions along with split second timing become a part of your overall tactics/strategy.
Strategy=overall planning in a game/war Tactics=decisions relevant to the immediate fight at hand
A bit of plot and such via promotions for crew manning stations (sonar, nav, engineering, etc) could make this a very nice game that goes past what sold well in the past.
I only bring this up again because I'm a bit bored with awds and tower defense games. Perhaps a game could be based on a real life situation which was fought in a real war, and involved real strategy and tactics.
