I recently purchased a flight simulator/game and I thought that I'd tell you guys a bit about it.

General Info
X-Plane 9 is an ultra-realistic flight simulator developed by Laminar Research. There are thirty flyable planes, plus you can create your own using the plane maker tool or download user made planes off of the internet. The game comes with over 60 gigabytes off global scenery, allowing you to fly anywhere in the entire world and experience it in extreme detail. You can also design your own scenery. You can fly from hundreds of airports across the world, customize weather settings, and fly in different scenarios including airdrops, fighting forest fires, and landing on aircraft carriers.

My Opinion
I *really* enjoyed this game. It was a little hard to get the hang of the controls, but it is quite amazing what the game can do after you become more experienced. It was a little cumbersome flying with the mouse, so I decided to purchase a USB joystick. That really made flying easier and more fun. The 60 GB of scenery is spread across 6 DVDs. Yes, 6. Only one of them needs to be installed for the game to work though (it includes the game and the U.S. scenery), the rest are optional. I would highly recommend this game to any flight buffs out there, X-Plane 9 is a great simulator with extreme realism and flexibility. It doesn't lag too much either (if you have a reasonable video card and don't go crazy with the graphics settings)!

Screenshots
I decided to include a few screenshots, some of them are ones that I took of the game, some are shots that I found using google.

My Shots:
Fighter Jet
Glider
Sunset Flight
Space Flight

Other Shots:

Seaplane
Space Shuttle
Carrier Landing
My Joystick

Does anybody else here own X-Plane 9? I was really hoping that I'd get some replies to this, X-Plane is a great game.

I have played a few flight simulators at fairs and hobby shops. I am totally in love with them! <3! Problem is, i do not have the worlds greatest computer. My small processor and graphics card would hardly be able to handle the l337 graphics and renders. So for now i will just wish and hope that my PC suddenly decides to use electronic steroids lol. Nice joystick by the way.

You can change the settings though. You need 1GB of ram and a 64MB video card to run the game. Plus a lot of disk space, depending on how much scenery you want to load. Even if you need to upgrade your comp a bit, X-Plane is worth it. In my opinion :P
