If we boycott the Olympics we might accidentally start a war with China and that would be terrible. We would not have any materials and China provides gas also.

China needs to treat Tibet fairly. They are a part of China and deserve equal rights and respect.

China is becoming one of our biggest rivals now in sales. Also, they have lots of power and could easily damage or even destroy or economy!

I think that's good because only honorable respectable country should hold the Olympics...and it will be held at a country that has complete forceful domination over another??

China supports the genocidal dictatorship in Sudan, Myanmar, and North Korea. Their own human rights record is pitiful. Forced abortions, disappearances, murder, assassinations, torture, and excessive use of the death penalty are just some of the actions the People's Republic of China commits.

The US will never boycott the Olympics because China is our biggest trading partner. Even if the US boycotted, it would do little to change how the Chinese government operates. When we boycotted Moscow in 1980, Brezhnev changed absolutely nothing about his style of rule and continued the oppressive and murderous dictatorship. The next two guys, Andropov and Chernenko, changed nothing as well. Boycotting the Olympics will do nothing to change human rights in China, nor will it effect Tibet at all. All it will do is hurt the athletes who have trained their entire lives for this event.

you do make a good point. Instead we could stop business with them ,but that would be extreme and would cost a lot.

we can strop doing business with them, it would hurt some but not toomuch because Tiwan and other east asian nations would pick up the slack, and the Chinese could try to start a war with the US, but from a military stand point they would be beatn in the air war and the naval war in about 2 weeks and the ground wr wouldnt last long either. THe chinese are trying look good and right now are just pissed because everything about them is coming out now. But boycotting the Olympics qwont do anything to them other nations will attend and so one missing team will just boost Chinese Moral knowing that they might get some gold medals alot easier

@the_medic16

and the ground wr wouldnt last long either

WHAT!?!? We can barely keep Iraq under control. How would a ground war against a nation of 1.2 BILLION people not last long?

Iraq is a diffucult war because they dont fight fair. They dont wear a common uniform, they dont fight under a flag, or have a HQ. and they may have 1.2 billion people, but they have a 4.5 million man army that is ill equip, poorly trained, and who (after an airwar and seawer with the US) will lack support.

Boycotting the olympics wouldnt do anything as long as they brodcast it im happy, the rest of the world and the american competittors will still go anyway i mean THIS is what every serious athlete works for idk bout u but i wouldnt give up years of hard work and dedication cause the US cant mind its own business (just like iraq)
