Right, so my question for you guys is, what's a good movie to just relax with in the evening? I don't need movies that are more famous blockbusters, so no Avengers, Transformers, X-Men, Hunger Games and the like. A movie like Pandorum or Surrogates or District 9 would be good. Superb films but not so well known and widespread. All genres are acceptable.

Well you said District 9 so if you haven't seen that I would watch it.

Shawshank Redemption is one of my favorite movies. Not really a relaxing one though.

I would for the Green Mile, compelling story.

But if that isn't quite what you had in mind I would go for Chicken Run, great comedy.

What about "Drive"? Great movie that grabs you fierce and then gently pulls you into the story... =)

Another suggestion would be "Contagion"! Keeps holding your attention! Your soda and chips will be untouched when it's finished... guaranteed!

You consider Drive and Contagion to be relaxing?!?

Lol, usually I'll go with some goofy movie from the 80's if I really just want to relax. I'd suggest Weekend At Bernie's, or something with John Candy in it.

Something about the 80s lifestyle relaxes me.

Watched it with my ex. Not great memories there.

Oh, and just to clarify, ''relax'' meant entertain. My bad. Not relax per se.

Law Abiding Citizen, Saving Private Ryan, The Boondock Saints, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Departed.

My recommendations for entertainment.

'Caddyshack' is great for laughs. 'Defiance' if you want an action movie that isn't in your face with it all. And 'Finding Nemo', because its awesome.

Hot Fuzz has always been a favorite of mine. And it's basically every genre in one, so you don't have to be in the mood for anything in particular to watch it.
