...and have to say I have so far been pretty blown away. Mostly by the fact that Athene usually does silly youtube videos (that I like) and plays loads of games. LOADS of games. They also stand up for net neutrality which makes me happy.
So I thought it was gonna be a joke, but its not.
It has really, so far, stirred thoughts on how I act and my reactions to the world, in specific how I deal with the world when my mind gets scared.
Anyhoo, I wanted others to see this and to gather thoughts and opinions.
Wait. C=hf? Where does he pull that from? Then the images get trippy and I stopped paying attention again. Better wait until I can actually pay attention, I woke up at like four in the morning today and can sleep as long as I want...
He pulled the equation out of his ***, which evidently has little understanding of how E = hf is applied.
And as I said, TONS of problems arise from equating consciousness to pure energy as he attempts to do here.
He describes memory as nural interactions within the brain so I dont see him saying consciousness is energy.
The burden of proof is not on me to show that it DOESN'T work, but on you guys to show that it does.
There is no burden of proof needed here unless some peeps are gonna pull some serious mathematics into the thread, which I would welcome but it would all go over my head anyway

That's what C = hf says. E = hf, C = hf, therefore E = C. This is a good link that does a good job explaining what E = hf actually describes, and hopefully it'll help in understanding why the idea of C = hf is so silly.

Yes there is! :P He's asserting that C = hf and yet he provided no mathematical proof of it, no supporting inductive examples, no process detailing how he derived this equation. He just says that since E = hf describes all matter (when in reality it can potentially describe all matter; this is another point where he's misinformed) and that the brain is matter and consciousness arises from the brain, consciousness is equal to hf. As I've hopefully adequately shown, that's a nonsensical non sequitur.

I hope he does in the future

How do you seriously expect me to give the proof. Im not debating the validity of his entire program and I was more interested at the first half, as I said, Im not really into the advanced math so I have no burden to uphold and couldnt possibly without devoting years of my life to the study of the subjects.
Im more interested in the philosophical ideas that would come about from certain aspects of humans learning to cope with themselves and for us to better understand how our brain works. Most people are never exposed to information of this kind, if they were, I think the world would be a better place.
I cant say it will devastate me if he is but you also cannot patently say he is wrong until he releases his calculations and gets them reviewed (or not).
The first half is nothing new at all, just already-established neuroscience presented in a slick way.
It was a new way of hearing it to me which was nice. Shamans have been talking "seudoscience" since the dawn of consciousness about your environment affecting you and to be aware of the balance of things. So its nothing new to the human race really.

I can say that what he said in his video is wrong, because it is. If it turns out he worded it all really really poorly and he actually has genuine insight, I'll be willing to look at it.

It was well-presented, except for all of the spelling and grammar errors in the text part of the documentary. I'm also a little skeptical on how he explained mirror neurons, but I'd have to read about them more to judge how accurately he presented them.

Why couldn't you? He brought no proof and there is no reason he should be correct.

That is because they where wrong, thinking they get magical powers from things. You do realize that when people say the "environment" effects you they mean that means the people around you? Like your parents when your a kid? They didn't even do science, they just where magic, unless you are talking about an insanely accurate shaman who no one knows about?

A fair enough judgement. It is also his work interpreted through another unknown entity as the guy who plays athene, chiren, says he doesnt want to get involved in the media coverage. I mean, the guy usually does games so to see this was a surprise, but it really peaked my interest. Mind you, I still wouldnt be surprised if it was just another pisstake!

Well I know that the part about the human brain firing off the same places when you do something or see it or imagine someone doing it. I dont really know what he means by mirror neurons and its annoying that he doesnt go into any detail, but as I said, its (supposedly) not chiren/athene making or taking part in the production of the video.
