I'm really excited to see what the Wii U will be capable of and what games it can have. I really hope the Elder Scroll series will be imported to this console. I'm also looking forward for the Legend of Zelda on this console. They should also have a game like Super Mario 64 or Super Mario Galaxy.
Even as a new system its graphics only catch up to the already established xbox360 and ps3. They're even getting ready to take the next step. Not only that, but because of the Wii U 's weird controller format, the games on other systems might be dumbed down or modified to work.
The thing that really turns me off is the controller. It's so stinking huge and looks like an iPad. Not only now will you have to look at the screen but also your controller? It just looks funny and unconfortable to use. What happened to using a regular controller? Wii was weird, and the Wii U is no different. I'd really like if Nintendo would make something like the other systems.
The sad thing is that I really like Mario, Sonic and Pokemon, but it just sucks seeing that the company that owns them is the one lagging behind and making weird systems that I don't want to play on.
Pikmin 3. I've wanted it since the Wii first came out. That's all.

I don't see how they'd be "dumbed down". Modified, sure, but even that won't necessarily happen. They could just do what many games on the Wii did, which was mostly just be the same game and only minimally implement the Wii-specific stuff.
But the graphics? I have to agree - Nintendo is just setting itself up to be outdated in the next generation by releasing NOW a console that can only compete with, not surpass, the others that came out ages ago. Unless they intend for the Wii U to have a rather short lifespan, which would suck for the consumer.

I agree with the controller looking cumbersome, I really don't look forward to holding that one, but nothing is quite official yet, it's all prototypes. Nintendo has a history of making excellent controllers and better control schemes. I'll reserve my judgment till it's out on stores.
But I don't think the idea is for you to look at both screens at once, one is going to be subsidiary for like inventory and maps and stuff, or in multiplayer each person is gonna have their own screen, or you could play with the TV off (which is dumb, I know, but it's still a thing).

I don't see what prevents you from buying the other systems, then. Nintendo is going in a different direction with theirs and its control, criticizing it for not conforming to others is holding it up to a standard it makes no claim to strive for.
