I was checking the top 100 rankings and I came to this list of the current leaders and last month's leaders. What does it mean and how do you make it on the list?
The lists are all wonky, various theories have been proposed as to how they work. But the thing we all agree about, is that if you gain a rapid amount of points in a short period of time, it's likely you'll end up on top of the Current Leaders Board. People do get knocked off mysteriously though, and that list you see as the Current Leaders has been the same more or less for the past six months.
Because, as Nicho said, no one has any idea how to get on it. 750 ap might not be enough compared to the other users there, that might be gaining 400 ap a day (I believe on of the theories is that the number posted is the average per day...) More so, you really should have no desire to get there, as the general forum population tend to think of the current leader board as a collection of spammers.
That said, it is completely and utterly broken, and I don't think many, if any at all of the staff members have any idea of how exactly it works.
If you lose points by having posts or comments deleted, you're automatically off the list... believe me, I was the #1 current leader for nearly a month and once I lost a number of points for the first time, I was off the list entirely.
It's not a big deal though, since being on that list doesn't prove anything anyway!

That's just a theory since nobody knows how it works. Therefore, ignore the Current Leaders leaderboard because it's broken. At least the top 100 leaderboard works, but it's only updated once per day.
