The music games. I have yet to find a game that is about music that wasn't absolutely horrible. ...probably doesn't help that I don't listen to music.
Sports games are usually bad, although there are a few good ones.
Most of my favorite games come from the shooting category, although they all have multiple elements to them.
The action group seems to be extremely arbitrary as to what constitutes it as an "Action" game opposed to shooting or adventure or puzzle/skill or strategy...
