Many Women or All in the acting industry have to perform nudity scenes, but do you think they should, I mean just so they can be famous.

WHAT DO YOU THINK.

They do not HAVE to do anything. If you are in the adult film industry then that is your job and it is different. If you are simply an actress/actor then it is not required to perform nude.

Thats the reason of why i will not study acting...(apart from being shy)I hate a little those who do nudity scenes, they prefer cash than respect and their own corpses.

Women (at least in Western nations) have the choice to do nude scenes. In fact, many acting contracts have "no-nudity" clauses. Too many people have a negative stigma against nudity in movies. Too many people see nudity as disgusting and immoral, especially here in America. I see the human body as a beautiful thing. The body should not be looked at in a negative light.

I'm NOT talking about the adult film industry I'm talking about the regular acting industry, in the rated R movies where there is nudity.

I'm talking about the R rated movies okay just letting everybody know.

I don't think its necessary at all. There are plenty of actresses who have gotten famous without nudity scenes...while most who show it all on camera end up famous...its not necessary. Also i don't think it should be done, no sex/nudity scene has ever enhanced the plot of the story, everything leading up to the specific scene is all that's necessary to move the plot along, and then when the scene starts the picture should fade away (pg-13 movies).

well it sounds bad but they are doing what they think they have to do to get ahead.. i dont really agree with it but they are looking to further their career... ask yourself this.. would you do something slightly unethical that didnt hurt anyone to advance your career?

well women have a double standard in nudity compared to men
women men
Bare Breasts= PG-13+ angry BB= no thought or censorship
parents and FCC on an up roar
Naked Crotch= R movie and NC= one hint is a NC17 on the
pretty much has to be a spot
R movie by far already
but think how many women became famous before nudity or "secret" sex scenes were the standard for a lot of press and it's all about how far the actress is willing to go with the script or scene and the bottom line is profit or pride

Even so, it is never required for a woman to do a nude acting scene. They only do it because they choose to, its not like they sign up for a movie and then find out it has a nude scene later. They know what they are signing up for, and what is required for the movie. It would be exploitation if they tricked them into it or something.

The whole "sleeping your way to the top" as well as the idea that one has to do nude scenes to "get to the top" is at best controversial. Especially if an actress has an established career in other fields yet 'untainted' by 'doing a nude shoot'. Everything appears to turn into a status-quo at one point, but I'd warn against bias here- it's awareness of small features that seem to influence perceptions of what the most prevalent practice is and the various titillations, directionless indignation and heated accusations follow suit.

I do detect a sort of 'doublestandard' at least in terms of the differing perceptions between the genders when it comes to nudity- the controversy generally centers around females. Then again, I'm not sure that the male nude-shoot is part of a mainstream culture that still harbors chauvinistic, patriarchal elements. I'm not sure, given the average differences between the sexes, that it would be for a long time.

I wonder if there'll ever be any nudity scene involving a person who was neither male nor female. Actresses who are in fact men with androgen insensitivity syndrome don't count- most likely many of us have seen multiple examples of that. But if I suggested a nude scene with a hermaphrodite in it, you'd probably give me weird looks because you'd assume that people would normally freak, right, like those stories about how some guy picks up a chick in a bar only to find out they're packing something downstairs?

...you ARE giving me weird looks.

On that note, how come aside from HK cinema martial-art type appropriations, there are no male Asian protagonists in Hollywood blockbusters? Think about that one!

@strop

Jet Li, Bruce Lee, and Jackie Chan are all Asian male protaganists in Hollywood!

Yeah, and each of them originally came from HK cinema as martial-artists, which is why my original point still stands :P

To clarify, I mean broadly, as a whole, as opposed to within that niche. The other niche Asians in Hollywood cinema fill is the eccentric villains and the femme-fatales.

What is wrong with nudity? I don't know about you guys, but I was born naked, I shower naked, I like to swim naked, I have sex naked, and I am an admirer of the human form generally. Since I came to Europe I've noticed a more progressive and appreciative attitude towards nudity that makes a lot more sense. There's nothing dirty about the human body. Maybe if strange objects are going in strange orifices accompanied by strange sounds and strange outfits this could constitute as dirty, but this sort of film/activity is highly specific.

Nudity in films? I think it should be no big deal. Maybe it should be mandatory for all films to help the population mature out of a childlike nudophobic state of mind; every character has to have a casual nude scene where no special attention is drawn to their nudity or their genitalia; it wont affect the pay for the actors and actresses and it wont offend the morality of the audience as long as the audience has two neurons to rub together.
