I thought it might be helpful for everyone to know who to turn to when they need help in the community. Questions can normally be answered through the Help page, so if you have a general site question, please make sure to look there first.
The Moderators on Armor Games make sure that users are following the Rules and Regulations, and help enforce these rules. You may see them around the site, answering users questions and taking care of SPAM. Moderator comments show up in blue in the forums, so it is easier to tell when a moderator is responding on a topic.
Ok here is how I see it, if you want to know how to become a mod... ask yourself this: What would I look for if I were to pic the mods?
Now personally, I would pic someone who is selfless (helps other people without wanting rewarded. This also strongly includes wanting to help people for the sole purpose of becoming a mod).
I would pic someone who writes in a very mature manner. This means they can explain things in a sophisticated way, yet in a way anybody can understand.
I would also pic someone who, as Carlie and most other mods have mentioned, someone who knows how the site works very well.
The person I would pic would also have to be cool with being a mod. The last thing you want is a mod who says things like "yep, im a mod alright.", "I know this because I am a mod.", "This message brought to you by Mod (insert name here). No one wants to hear a mod brag about being a mod.
Now I am not a mod, I have never been a mod, I do not realy know the secret to becoming a mod. I am only saying that the best way to get an idea of how to be a mod, is ask yourself what kind of person you yourself would pic to be a mod.
Most people who ask to be a mod show themselves as people who will abuse their position as bragging about being a mod. This is why it is good to not ask. Another reason why you should not ask is because you should already know what is expected in being a mod, or at least for the most part.
A lot of AP shows that you are active. Being active is good because it shows you look around the site a lot and you are not shy to aproach a problem. It can however show that you are active in a negative way. Many active users are also active spammers. Some spam (well technically it is not spam) is not deleted because it has the bare minimum requirements of an apropriate post.
These are all just my ideas of how to become a mod and why you shouldnt ask and all that juicy stuff. I am only making an educated guess at how to become a mod.
I can remember a time when Asherlee wasn't a mod and a time when Carlie had less than 20 forum posts (A time very long ago when I actualy had more posts than her... maybe around 40?). Ah, those were the good ol' days.
It is almost strange, because I don't remember much about not being a moderator here. I remember when nkqoi1 was more active, with his grumpy attitude. It always made me laugh.
There are many people that are told by their friends that they should be mods. The reason to this is because most AG people make friends with helpful people... who they feel should be mods. This would mean that over 40% of all active users on this site should be mods acording to the average person's opinion.
If someone says "hey, you should be a mod!", then nod your head and take the compliment, but dont think to far into it unless a mod themself says that to you.
We always keep an eye out for new mods in case Dan sees fit that we need more... but chances are the people we have in mind and the people suggested to us are very different. So just be yourself and be helpful )
Ah, memories of the old times on armorgames, all that laughter, all that fun, all gone now, with just one small mistake. Yes, but NoNameC68 is right, there are lots of helpful people, but they don't all deserve to be a mod...
Well I think that being a mod and all would be fun, but I don't think that anyone would ever want me to be one. lol.
There is a new person here. His name is like TelsaCewl or something. He doesn't have very many points but I think that with time he has potentail to be a mod.
He is really nice, active in the forums, seems to get the hang of things fast, and is really just a nice person.
His about is really sad though. His parents were killed in 9/11. It almost made me cry.
But with time will come more people, and with more people will come more mod conestants and I know that AG will choose good ones like they always have.
