Contributor I Description: First forum post, good, keep it up! Difficulty: Easy
Why only 1 post?
I think most of the people aren't even aware of the forum existence,so let's give them a chance to explore, and who knows, maybe they will like it and decide to stay!
Contributor II Description: Warming up! Congratulations on 100 forum posts! Difficulty: Medium
Contributor III Description: Now we are talking! Congratulations on 1,000 forum posts! Difficulty: Hard
I consider that we can call anyone who reaches 1000 forum posts a Veteran. Such a person probably knows every corner of the forum.
Part of the forum inventory! Description: 10,000 forum post,WOW unbelievable! Difficulty: Very Hard
Why the range from 1 up to 10000 with instances on 100 and 1000 ?
With a normal behavior anyone is able to achieve 1,000 forum posts.
The reason for the big lap from 1000 to 10000 lies in safety measures,we don't need spam! Even if someone is hunting quests, a long way is ahead of him,and I don't believe that someone is ready to pass such a long route just for 1 quest!
In addition, that quest should indicate something above average, something amazing!

Why these group of quests when we already have game related quests ?
One of the main reasons why we are all here, are games actually, in every sense of that word! Games with quests are cool addition, but that does not mean that other games should not be played at all, on the contrary the more we play the more we contribute to the site growth.
Unique quests:
Artist Description: Secret!!! Difficulty: Unique
Alien Description: Secret!!! Difficulty: Unique
Castle builder, Castle crusher .... and many others
Unique quests should be given a special attention, they are the future in every sense.
Transformation of Legacy quest into Community quests!!!
The original idea was to establish a balance between new and old members of this site. The legacy quest are not a good solution and definitely they need to be replaced with new system. One of the possible solution is implementation of ~ Community quests ~ where all have equal chances.
I'll explain a little more detail:
Members which have a large number of legacy quests do not lose anything, when their legacy quests turn into Community quests they will still be slightly ahead over average members and especially over newcomers, but there would be healthy competition.
And that's what this is all about, healthy competition, equal conditions for all.I think this could injected a new life into this site and make things much more interesting.
We've had conversations about a few of these ideas, but it's really neat to see them created thought up by a user. The first community type Quest we have being designed is the notion of returning to play games every day.
What do you guys think about Quests that are unattainable by some people? For instance an artist Quest may never be attainable by somebody like me, we couldn't doodle myself out of a paper bag...

Legacy quests are already exactly like that, so if we have those which nobody will ever be able to earn again, we might as well have some that cater to certain people's talents.
Some of those quests are oddly specific. I'm referring specifically to the horror story quest, and especially the mental poop quest, which is one specific contest. The other two are fine, but writing a horror story seems completely out of the blue for a quest, and the mental poop competition is just one contest out of many, and if it ends, the quest becomes an unattainable legacy quest.
It's run by a moderator, and it has had four segments before now. I doubt it will end very soon.
That doesn't matter. It's a contest run by an individual, not by the site, and therefore it can end any time. It also means that the opinion of just one individual decides who does and who doesn't earn a specific quest.
I would say, no quests that can't be awarded automatically. If a quest requires that a contest be run and then judged there's too many factors getting in the way. Contests are sporadic and judging is subjective.
I do like the idea of quests like, sign in for 100 consecutive days, play 50 different games, and play at least one game a day for 50 days. Even possibly, rate at least one game day for X number of days (although that could open users to spam rate again, but the limitations of the quest may stop users from spam rating.)
Very good ideas Ivan, and I see you've brought the "very hard" category into play once again. Ferret, do you think in the future we will see these types of quests or the very hard category of quests?

What about a certain number of posts (1-5) every day? Yes, people may try to spam for it, but not without getting caught and having that particular quest timer reset.
I object to any post or comment related quests that go beyond 50, however.
I agree when it comes to comments, as that could encourage the same level of spam that the AP system did, but the posting achievements, especially the higher ones, could provide ambitious leaderboard climbers to spend more time in the community. The lower ones would be easier to spam for, but it would be hard to get past a certain number of posts without getting caught.
Of course, it would mean that quests would have to be manually revoked if people did spam to achieve them, so that could raise an entirely different issue.
I do support some of the suggestions (Posts and Merits to be exact), because they're relatively straightforward to monitor and to award. Merits being issued only by the brass need not to be discussed.....Posts can be monitored in the Forums, compared to comments, which are harder to track if a person started an alt to comment spam.
I would support having the Quests being geared towards the relatively low numbers at the beginning, say 1 post/merit, 5 merits, maybe 50 or 100 posts. Start them small, so people might be tempted to start and subsequently, if they continue to actually develop and interest, then considerations should be put forth to introduce the next few tiers. Plus, it won't scare away Questors who would balk at a 1,000 posts Quests.
I would suggest against Quests geared towards user ran contests (CTC one apart, seems to be thriving, plus it's still a game site), as these are skewed, not very constant, and could very well lead to bickering or favouritism.
Quests that could be gained by everone, yes (posts in the forum and comments). Yes, that may lead into spam again, but, if are carefully used, thats a risk that could be worth it. Also the mods/admins have a new weapon to deal with these spammers, like lower/reset the counter when catched.
Quests for playing games, yes and no If the users are free to choose which games they play, then yes. if it leads into "lay xx x-tagged games" (like play xx car-games or else), then no.
Merits, yes. They are only given by mods/admins, and i assume they know what they doing.
Quests for special talents (storys, user ran contests, stuff like that), needs reviews, votes, etc, no. They are imo problematic because you never know if someone realy like/dont like it, user-relationships could have a great influence in their views, votes which distort the whole idea.
