The Halo 2 and 3 are just a mere continuation of the first with a slight advantage of adding new weapons and cars...The first had the best atmosphere especially at 343 Guilty Spark!!! But i must admit that HALO 3 had the best multiplayer!

HOWEVER I hope that you do not mean as a game or fps in general, because halo 3 was an insult compared to the classic games like DOOM and Wolfenstein. Halo 1 was a great game, and halo 2 was okay, but the third is nothing but a sickening and a pathetic excuse for a fad.
