I love all these ideas, and updates and stuff, but isn't all this stuff a little too much like a socializing network? I mean, all these things for private messages, and chats, and like buttons, notifications, etc. I think they're all great, I'm just asking the admins to take into consideration that the site is named Armor GAMES, so working on the game system a little more than the chatting would be great. Thanks.

They ditched chat rooms a while ago, but I don't mind some of the changes. Some sketchy ideas are a little worrysome (e.g. Armor points)

You want achievements? Ask an admin for confirmation.

Yup, we'll have 'em

I totally get where you're coming from. As a company, we want to be the best casual gaming site out there, and some of our users like the social aspect of the site as well, so we're expanding on that as a web development team while the games team works on other neat stuff like achievements.

chat bar

This has been covered a lot. We're not doing a live chat system.

AG doesn't want to be a copycat.

We love to do things our own way. That said, there are features that other sites have implemented that we see potential to benefit our users to keep them coming back and interacting with the games and each other, which is why we've been working so hard on AG3.

Loading is based upon your computer and internet speed, along with the size of the game. Not the site that said game is hosted on.

For the most part, yes. But if we have a bug in our software that makes our database slow to a crawl, it will also affect your load times. We have plenty of redundant systems in place to keep this from happening though, and AG3 will be even more robust.

Armorgames is a unique site. Sure it's meant mainly for gaming, but additional features are available to registered users, and some of those include all that stuff. I use that alot (facebook scares me how it knows so much about me even though I used a fake name). Relative to sites like Kongregate, Newgrounds, etc., Armorgames doesn't have very many games. So when you play games, you can go on the forums and talk about them or pretty much anything else.

I often find many Flash " " games around those sites. Those aren't original; you take a game and convert it to flash and submit it. Boo. That being said, we may have lesser amount of games, but ours are of higher quality.

There's also a difference between implementing other concepts of websites and implementing the fundamentals of a community/website.

Yeah, they can be creepy. They also seem to have a long history of run-ins with users over privacy settings.

seeing on things like myspace and facebook are so popular the only real way AG can keep up is to match them maby it can be a socialising network that mainly foucuses on games?

We don't need to "match them" by competing as a socializing network. We only need to be competent as one of the best flash game websites. While AG3 does employ some socializing elements, this is primarily not what AG3's purpose is. We play games, rate them, comment on them, follow and friend people that you like, and have forums for discussing games and other topics that strike our fancy.

Honestly, I think that we are blowing this "friend/following" thing out of proportion. When people start posting pics about themselves and have other people in turn comment on THAT, when we are on a flash game website, then that's when I will worry.

Yeah I know. I put in a fake name, and when it made friend suggestions I saw all of the people were from my school. I got a little freaked out, so I deactivated it :P

Exactly, I don't see what the big deal about it is. If people don't want to be on the forums orhave it like a social network, they don't have to. And I'm sure that on AG3 they will have filters (I think Cormyn mentioned it on one of the threads). They already have the option to block comments on your profile and what information to display such as nationality, location, age, gender, when you joined, etc.

The purpose of social interactivity elements on AG3 is to enhance a user's flash gaming experience.

I think the socializing aspects, especially a chat box, could be useful in get tips or hints about games from friends. I won't mind if Armor Games adds socializing options, as long as the continue to host quality flash games (unlike a lot of sites that host some really junkie games), I'm fine with it. (And maybe an appear offline mode, if that's necessary.)

The "friend suggestions" on facebook breaks down simply. You probably added some friends to your facebook. Maybe lets say you only have 30 friends. The "friend suggestions" just sees your 30 friends other friends (or friends of friends) and suggests friends to you (especially if there is someone who is a friend to most of your 30 friends). It usually turns out that the friends you have, have added a lot of people from your school or local area and it will turn out you probably know your friends friends. So when facebook suggests a person based on that, you probably know them.

I think it is too much like a social network, but I guess it's majority vote here.. I'm not saying they're bad ideas it's just too much I think, hopefully you can have the option not to have anything in your feed and publish nothing, so you can just continue playing games and writing on the forums as the only thing you do.
