I created this thread for anyone that is interested in discussing mathematics. I don't think that this thread is a [dup] and if it is, it was not intended to be one.
The first thing I will say is that I know the value of:
e to 12 digits: 2.718281828459
pi to 25 digits: 3.1415926535897932384626433
I hope that this thread will be a successful one.

He was just posting the first 25, which I believe is accurate enough to deal with a circle the size of Earth with an error margin less than a football field.

Would i be considered possitive, negative or just ****ed up?

2 + 2 = 4

There you go.

I guess if the Armor Games users want to waste their time talking about science, they surly will not mind this!

Eh, if AG users want to "waste their time" talking about anything, these forums are the place to go.

I think that this year (8th grade) in math was the first time I felt challenged in math. I actually had to work now to get my usual A's.

Which means my math classes aren't going to get any easier. Great. Now I have to work >_>

PI is infinite. It can go on and on until the end of the world.

How does pi to 100,000 digits fry your brain?

2 + 2 = 4

2 * 2 = 4

Both are true statements.

You forgot about 2^2=4.

Yea ma bad.

Anyways, I always wondered: what is pi and how do you calculate it?

pi is the ratio of circumference to diameter of a circle. pi is irrational, so it can only be approximated. The most common approximation is 3.14.

But why does it not have an end?

It doesn't have an end because it's an irrational number.

Well... Why is it irrational?

It just is.

Lets say there are an infinite amount of points in a circle (which there is) and lets say each of those points is a side. If a circle has an infinite number of sides than the number demonstrating the ratio of circumference to the diameter will have to go on forever. (I'm mostly guessing here because the answer i actually learnt is too complicated without pictures)

Well... Why is it irrational?

Irrational numbers are (in latents terms) numbers that go on forever, and Pi goes on forever.
