Well a lot of people have been telling me evolution is real. They give me the most craziest surreal 'facts'. Has anyone discovered any fish with legs? Any humans with gills or fins? If you put all the pieces of a watch into you're pocket and shake it around for trillions of years, will it ever become a watch? Is there but one possibility? Or if you completely dismantle a chicken and a fish, and put it into a box, shaking it around for trillions of years. Will it ever become a fish with wings? or a chicken with fins? :l

Where is the evidence of creation? Don't tell me "Well, it's in the Bible/Torah/Koran." That cannot be taken as fact on a scientific basis. There is OVERWHELMING evidence to prove evolution...

I may make myself sound like a fool, but here goes nothing.
I do believe that creation occurred. Why? Because even with the Big Bang Theory, the elements that came together would have had to have come from somewhere.
This isn't to say that I don't think evolution occurs. Its just I don't believe humans evolved.

Yeah, maybe you should understand what evolution is and how it works rather that basing your judgements on obscure metaphors that have very few to do with it (the clock one is about abiogenesis).

I really think you should read up on evolution, as, in all honesty, it doesn't seem like you fully understand what evolution is. I'm not saying it's the only answer, but there's overwhelming evidence of evolution that makes it nearly impossible to deny.

Thanks for that. Just a little more evidence about why I'm Atheist.

You don't really seem to be all that familiar with what evolution actually is or how it occurs - maybe you should familiarize yourself with the topic at hand before wading in to this?

Okay I guess I should start with the basic of what evolution is.
Evolution is a change in alle frequency in a species over generation, or more simply put decent with modification.

They give me the most craziest surreal 'facts'.

What sort of facts have you heard? Do you consider observed instances of evolution occurring in both nature and the lab a surreal fact?

Has anyone discovered any fish with legs?

We have had and still do have fish with adaptations allowing for travel across the land. They are called mudskippers. However we have an example of a transitional form between fish and amphibians in a fossil species known as Tiktaalik.

Any humans with gills or fins?

Humans and fish are on completely two different branches and are separated by numerous descendants. Finding such a trait would actually hurt the theory rather than support it. What we wold expect from the theory is to have a transition between fish and some other animal (witch we have) that would then transition into another animal (witch we have) then from that into another animal (take a guess what we have) and so on and so forth until we get humans.

If you put all the pieces of a watch into you're pocket and shake it around for trillions of years, will it ever become a watch?

And a watch doesn't have the same properties as the chemical makeup of life. If it did yes we could expect to find such an occurrence.

Evolution IS a Blind Watchmaker

Is there but one possibility?

The Great Spaghetti and meat balls in the sky did it? No? Zeus? Odin? Ra and his magic sperm? I would think before you invoke a divine creator you provide evidence for that creator first.

Or if you completely dismantle a chicken and a fish, and put it into a box, shaking it around for trillions of years. Will it ever become a fish with wings? or a chicken with fins?

Again this is not how evolution works. Though broken down into their base components and allowed to recombine I wouldn't be surprised to find simple single celled organisms.

I do believe that creation occurred. Why? Because even with the Big Bang Theory, the elements that came together would have had to have come from somewhere.
This isn't to say that I don't think evolution occurs. Its just I don't believe humans evolved.

The Big Bang really has nothing to do with the theory of evolution. One covers the expansion of the universe while the other covers the diversity of life. Also why would humans be the exception to the rule?

For further reading and incitefull video watching like the ones above I direct you to my Evolution Bomb. Please feel free to educate yourself before using more erroneous arguments against the theory.

Sorry about that, I've been playing a lot of Skyrim lately, my sneaking skills have gone waaaaaay up xD I think I'd call this thread - you addressed everything else and it's pretty much just a case of the person not really knowing about evolution so... Yeah, let's call it a day.

With this comparably short summary, I think we're done now. How about discussion about thoughts and ideas? Just thought that I'd throw that suggestion out there and see what you people think...

You mean a discussion about evolution that doesn't involve beating facts over a creationists head? I... I don't think I've ever had one on here....

How about one going back a few years. The complete genetic mapping of platypus DNA shows that genetically it resembles a reptile, bird and mammal, just as it looks.
http://www.nsf.gov/news/news_summ.jsp?cntn_id=111521&govDel=USNSF_51

This is possible because of the point at witch is branches off from reptiles to make it's way to becoming a mammal. The branch off from Sauropsida ("lizard face" the group containing reptiles and birds/dinosaurs) 315 million years ago and remained relatively unchanged. As a result the maintained features found in sauropids while developing features found in mammals. In a way I guess that makes them living fossils.

In a way I guess that makes them living fossils.

I guess not, since the term 'living fossil' is scientifically inaccurate. I know what you mean, but fossils are organisms that lived long enough ago to be fossilized; which means that, even in the case of the coelacanth who didn't change so much compared to it's ancestors, we cannot speak of living fossil since it's not the same organism, just it's descendant.
