Let's get this show on the road... and I mean the RIGHT way! Because this happening now, is what happened the last time with this nice thread... people just do as they please instead of following the rules and the thread ends up getting locked! Not going to happen this time, MM-KAY?!

@ wakyswag : Read the OP, you can't post new lyrics unless you guessed the previously posted ones, which you ignored...

@ jets99 : same goes for you, even twice! Read the OP, don't know the lyrics? Don't post new ones... wait it out!

As for the ones open, I know the song to the lyrics Jazmoon posted...

I'm happy standing on my feet of clay
I have no wish to swim your milky milky way
I say why on earth do you send your letters 'round here
Only to gum up the atmosphere

It's "Another Satellite" by "XTC"! Excellent song! How did you come up with that one?! I liked "Sense Working Overtime" better though, from the 1982 album "English Settlement"... =)

...and I know the song to the lyrics greenplanet011 posted...

Every time we try we get nowhere
but wouldn't it be nice if we were just normal people, yeah
trying so hard to act like we don't care
but it's true you do,nothing is left
so i guess i'm right

That's Gorillaz - Doyathing! Again...excellent choice!

---

But now... it leaves us with the current lyrics in play and the only ones open for guessing which are these:

Posted by Maverick4 :

Romans and countrymen, please lend me your ears.
Theres some late-breaking news I'd know you'd like to hear.
But the papers won't print it, and the TVs just won't air.
Nobody gets the word, cause theres nobody there.
As the scales were set, and the measurements taken,
Old chief left for the great vacation!

Now, try to guess these without googling and ONLY THEN you can post new lyrics... ;)

Thanks MrDayCee. I'm rather dissapointed to find that so many of you can't even follow the rules. Its simple: Name the above song, and only then can you post new lyrics. The general consensus seems to be 'Herpy derp, I know muzik! :D'

No. If you can't follow the rules, then don't let the door knock you in the *** on the way out. Goodbye, we'll do just fine without your business.

Now that I've vented my spleen, thanks to everyone else whose actually followed the rules. And since no one has been able to guess my lyrics for a few days now, I'll just go ahead and tell you now: its Great Vacation by the Dirt Poor Robins. Heard them on Pandora awhile back, and thought they were pretty good, so I'm rather surprised to find out they're relatively unheard of. I'll put up some new, and hopefully easier lyrics:

Daddy works a long day.
He'll be coming home late, yeah, he's coming home late.
And he's bringing me a surprise.
'Cause dinners in the kitchen, and it's packed in ice.
I've waited for a long time.
Yeah, the slight of my hand is now a quick pull trigger.
I reason with my cigarette;
And say your hairs on fire, you must have lost your wits, yeah.

No problem. Name this song:

Well, we scheme and we scheme, but we always blow it.
We've yet to crash, but we still might as well tow it.
Standing at a light switch to each east and west horizon,
Every dawn you're surprising and in the evening one's consoling.
Saying "See, it wasn't quite as bad as..."

6th symphony in B flat by Mozart

(Hows that for following rules, huh Mav?)

I know that sometimes things can get rough
when you go out alone
dont go actin like ya gotta be tough
when you play like a stone
it may be nothing in our life so critical
as this little home
