what you think of germany noname? in germany they are not allowed to have gore in the games. but manga is no problem. xD
*Technically* they are allowed, you just run the risk of not even getting a mature rating, at which point the game turns into a get-it-under-the-counter kind of deal. Which obviously kills your sales because no store wants to stock those. So most developers try and go for an 18+ or 16+ rating, simply because it makes more money. It's mostly stuff like decapitations that ends up getting removed.
Having said that, yes the german rating system for games is absurdly strict. Heck, you need to be 16 just to buy a game like Soul Calibur.
To those who advocate not banning vile games, so you would like to see games that had Child ****, Extreme, bordering on Sadistic levels of Violence on the shelves in shops and ready for Download?

2. Feel free to show me how a game with child **** wouldn't ALREADY be all kinds of illegal, even without a theoretical law that bans "vile" games. Introducing a law at that point is just redundant.

"Drawing" the line would be up to the people that actually would introduce legislation to ban those sorts of games, for obvious reasons.
imagane it like this, the rule need to say that from a point, a kid getting shot is wrong, but if its just a slap its ok? i mean, if they need to ban a game in which you kill masses of peoples as a psycho, they need to ba nthem if you do in on your own mind {GTA for say}?
Should you be tried for murder because you could go on the streets right now and kill people? Having the choice to do things makes a huge difference (not to mention GTA punishes you for doing these things).
if in skyrim you can kill a kid, its ok {because its a free world, no one tell you to do so, etc.}, but if you have to its wrong? I just made some exmples {preety bad ones in seconde sight} but please, look at the base of these exmples. where are the lines? blood yes, blood of 'innocent' no? sex yes, 'vioance/tabbo' sex no?
Fun fact: You can't actually kill any kids in Skyrim. Also, I *really* hope you're not seriously comparing sex in games with actual **** in games, because those two things are incredibly different matters entirely.
I believe it's not really a censorship issue and more of a we-don't-have-a-mature-rating-for-media-so-let's-just-ban-everything-to-be-safe kinda issue. Incidentally, they passed some legislation to introduce just such a rating this year.

well i give you this example: EPIC games releases it's german version of the UT serie, 1 week earlier then the official release date. due to two thing. 1. germany is like 15/20% of their fan base. 2. germany needs a special version whit all gore removed. and UT is not over violent. it's only 5 times faster as the usual FPS. just shooting.

it already does exist. and it's not illegal because as kasic said. it are not real human. and no, i'm not going to look for it to give you examples. you can do that on your own if you really want to see. (i suggest not)

ok....so i read this topic and i still wonder what is this about.i mean that i already knew about the thin about games that are banned in australia but in Romania there it doesen't matter about the ratings and there are about no game shops so all the games you want you download from the internet or order them from other countries.so in Australia there are banned games and in Romania you can have anyting free.
