Techno is fine if you want to dance but I greatly prefer rock. Rock has a much richer history and is arguably the most dominant musical genre of the past 60 years.
1 time this. the other time that. both have their ups and downs. like any music genre. and i like them all. except for country and classic. and even those 2 have some great songs.
todays pop-rock doesn't even come close to metal. classic-rock on the other hand is just like metal but back then every thought metal was only a material to build whit. =P and hard-rock being somewhere in the middle of that. thats what i thought anyway.
Hmmm, really hard to choose. I like rock but techno is great as well... I think I would choose techno. Mainly because techno has a good beat and can keep me entertained for a while, longer then rock can.
Technically, today's Pop-Rock is considered a sub-genre of Rock and Roll. I would consider it more of a sub-genre of Pop, but whatever would make Today's Generation of Teenagers happy that they know good music.

Good music depends heavily on the taste of the generation; rock and roll started out much hated by people when it first came out; yet is now "good" music.
Techno for dancing, studying and mood. Rock for much of the time; the two aren't better for me.
i don't think so. there are sub-genres of metal, black metal, death metal, thrash metal etc.
Subgenres can have subgenres. Melodic death metal, symphonic black metal are both subgenres; does that make them not metal? No. Heavy metal as we first knew, developed out of rock in the 60s.
