Is it really right to hurt an innocent animal for any reason at all? I personally think that anyone that does this should be arrested and, depending on the severity of the abuse, be put in jail for anywhere between 5-30 years. What do you think the punishment should be (if any)?

But we all have some basic level of compassion for living things.

Yes, compassion for living things which we find useful to ourselves. Eg, cute dogs and cats. Not insects.

I myself find a person killing a dog for no reason a retard

Because they made that thing feel pain. they have empathy because they don't enjoy pain, so why would the animal?

This is basically what PETA is all about. Cows feel pain when you kill them, eh? Well actually in most places them kill them instantly in which they feel no pain.

Animals are no less alive then we are, thus i believe they should be treated with the same conditions we are treated with.

I have to problem with killing animals IF they are used to sustain you! I don't believe in wreckless killing. I also think that they should be treated with care.

When you say "treated with care" or even "in the same conditions we are treated with", please give an example. As to what extent? It seems crazy to just live it to that.

I mean give them a clean enviroment in which to live, ample healthy feed, shelter from the weather, water, etc. You know, how you would live or how you treat you pets!

...
That would take major labour...not to mention ruin the whole ecosystem an have most animals go extinct.

Unfortunately, they're still animals and therefore the legal system shouldn't extend to them. I pay enough taxes already, don't need more wasted money on persecuting this. Between laws on animal rights and the war on drugs, the government is spending WAY too much.

Solution? An authoritative, neo-fascist government with complete economic freedom and few social freedoms. But that's just one man's ramblings.

Back on topic, though, I cba to care much about this issue. No, I wouldn't kick my dog or let someone kick my dog. Does that mean I won't hurt animals? Actually, no, I'm an avid hunter (and I make the best deer jerky. Too bad I'm not sharing my recipe). Why should I deny what humanity has done for thousands of years? Because all of a sudden a group of people thinks that it's "wrong"? Since when has one group of people stopped me from doing anything? Obviously never, since I'm a devoted Christian. Not unless they physically force me to not do whatever it is. Anyways, people are animals, but animals aren't people. Keep that in mind.

Ahh yes, my point Mega.

Its just a movement to change our moral code, which has nothing wrong with it. Morality is subjective.

your a christain? oh well animal abuse is wrong acoriding to the bible, just beacuse God gave us athority over the animals dosnt mean we should abuse our athority. God also says love is kind, and God is love and were supposed to emulate him. which dosnt inculde beating the sh!t out of your dog

I really hate the commercials that show the animals with their puppy-dog eyes and the cute little faces *sniff* and I think that us humans should imagine what it would be like to be beaten by animals and killed and whipped or whatever people would do to them.

It seems like people are trying to fix what ain't broke in the frist place! Even though I would like to see animals get treated better, I don't want the government to tell ME how I should raise my animals. They are already trying to limit us on the number of small animals we are allowed to keep in the town i'm in (sm. animals being; rabbits, cavies, rats, mice or even dogs and cats). I personally don't want any USDA rep to come and tell me my animals are not being taken care of, when in fact, I AM doin the best I can to see them get better care than I give myself!
