You know, the killing the 30 giants with traps is pretty easy for non-premium. Yes, if you don't know how to do it, the task seems impossible. However, it isn't. Ideally, if you are non-premium and aren't at a nice level, do a pylon run. Now, you may think that you will get overwhelmed around wave 60 or so... after all the monsters get stronger and stronger and your gems can't be upgraded fast enough.
Howver, there is a trick to that. Yes I am level 404 non-premium, but this worked for me at level 100. To do it well (and to make it easier) you need a few types of gems, bloodhound, shock, mana, multiple dmg, and chain. I would highly recommend having maxed gems for all of these types (maybe not necessary for cyan). Also, you NEED wild gem max upgrade, rechargem and radiance. These will help a lot. Starting out go to a pylon. First, hit the manapool twice, and then sell the wild gem. Then get a lime-yellow gem (only if you have to unlock one). If you have to unlock both the chain and the mult dmg, substitute for red. Do a double gem, either level 6 or 7 of lime-yellow ideally. Set this at a place that is further back from where the monsters appear. Next, farther up towards where the monsters spawn (as close as possible use your walls wisely) make a cyan orange or a lime orange gem. This might take an unlocking. What you want to do next is anger the monsters, as much as you can without dying. This might take a few tries... but it is very rewarding and will get you ahead of the curve. So, keep on doing that and add as many amplifiers as you can to both places. The gems that amplify you main gem should be 1 level below it, but that's not too important. Next, stay alive, keep angering. As soon as possible make both gems triple gems (lime/orange/cyan) and (red/lime/yellow). The former stays in the trap the WHOLE time. However, the second one, the latter doesn't. It starts out in the tower with a 0% bonus and then goes into the trap after you have a good gem (probably level 13ish). Then its stats go up by 80% and the dmg goes down by 80%. This makes the whole build work. Your multiple damage will go up to extreme multiples more than a couple thousand, and you can chain up to a couple thousand. Along, the way also upgrade your manapool. This makes your mana gem get more mana, but it isn't the top priority.
Eventually, as you keep angering and upgrading your things, you should end up with a trap that can chain a lot of monsters, stun them and get mana from them and also a trap that can chain a lot of monsters can kill them in 1 hit.
Yes, this works. My highest level gem was 35, and my manapool was several billion. Also, my trap could hit for a nice 206 million hp/hit. The funniest thing is that I could have gone further than that, but I got bored.
To get more info, search "gemcraft pylon leveling". It will help a lot....
@mikacinikac: pretty easy. As you may know: you can summon additional monsters on a wave. In case you dont know it: to do this grab a gem hover it over the grey wave blocks (thats the monster wave stones the quest talked about) on the left and the unleash it by pressing "b". The gem is lost, the wave you throw the gem on is a lil bit harder... more monsters, higher life and def... and the higher the gem-grade is, the greater the effect is. So a lvl 3 gem adds more monsters/hp/def to a wave than a lvl 2 gem. So to master this quest throw 10 gems on one gem wave stone (the easiest would be 10 lvl 2 gems^^). To make it even easier look for a map with these blue "mana-pools", collect the mana there asap, build a strong gem with this addditional mana, then throw the gems.
I cannot get the novice amulet for killing 20 guys with traps. I know that I have killed more than that with only traps during one level, also I beat the level not even getting hit once. Is there something I am missing?
Don't use poison gems for traps if you need kills. If you aren't then I have no idea.
Try using bloodhound gems or something n.n
Me personally I was trying to get the Gatekeeper Quest.. And man is that a grind for non-premium. I created another file to continue and I should get back to the gatekeeper quest later.
Gatekeeper actually not that bad. Get 600ish from battle itself, 8*300 from "Spend 3000 mana on gem of a kind", get 20 wins, spend 100000 mana on gems - boring, but possible.
