Ok, in this thread you simply post whatever bands, songs, or playlists you've been listening to recently. I don't believe this is a duplicate thread but I'm sorry if it is. One rule though- don't be a music snob/ elitist. A bit of debate is fine, but don't bully anyone out of the thread. If we're all respectful and open-minded, this is a great way to share music and maybe try something new.

The past few days I've been listening to a few songs by Wintersleep: "Nothing is Anything (Without You)" , "Weighty Ghost", and "Laser Beams." Aside from those, I haven't had much of a craving for anything in particular in the past few days and I've been using shuffle on my iPod.

Hey, and so I find only now that this silly 1980's Osibisa hit "Pata pata" was actually originally sung by Makeba.

From the yes yes you learn sth. new every day dept. And how she grooves, too! \\o/ (As for Osibisa, I thought all along for some reason that they were Dutch. Apparently mistaken.)

... More goodies where that came from: Manu Dibango, Pata pata.

You might however want to give Helmut Lotti giving it a go a miss *Cough*

Okidoki, back over to the others here for now. Any speedmetal around?

Ahem, well one more then: Did you know (I sure didn't) "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" apparently was originally a 1939 Zulu song entitled "Mbube" (lion), by Solomon Linda & the Evening Birds? Yes, there's a Makeba version, too (namely here, to save y'all the trouble).

Da-da-dat'll be all for now, folks (one hopes).

Heheh. Hey, one gets inspired, or not

I'm currently going through a wave of more Manu Dibango, not to my regret. Woohoo.

RIDING ON THE METRO BY SOAD

I'm not even listening to it for real. It's just stuck in my head. Constantly. Always. Forever. Eternal. Bacon. Eggs. Milk.
