I am a christian, i and i strongly belive in my lord jesus christ, and i also belive that if you belive in him and except him as your savior, u will go to heaven. and i also believe that he created the world, not the big bang, or that we came from stupid apes.

Even if atheism is true, what's the point in believing it? I'm not saying atheists are bad people, but believing that nothing awaits us after death really has no point. If you're right, then there's nothing. If you're wrong, the after-life might not be as kind to you.

There isn't any evidence for many of the Bible's stories, including Noah's Ark.

If there was evidence of Christianity, it wouldn't be a faith. It would be scientific fact, and there would be nothing special about believing indisputable fact.

You say that like it is a bad thing. About 200 billion atoms in my body were also in Shakespeares. When I die I'll decompose and the atoms that were me will work their way back into the universe as many different things. Every atom you possess has almost certainly passed through several stars and been part of millions of organisms on its way to becoming you. And when you die you could become a bee or a mountain. That is wondrous I think and far from nothing. (though no I won;t be around to enjoy it lol)

Sorry forgot to reference that is Bill Bryson from A short history of nearly everything. Honesty is the best policy

I didn't mean any offense. Like I said, atheists aren't bad people. I just meant that there is nothing for YOU once you die. It is wondrous that your atoms will become other people or things. I only meant that your soul will no longer exist. Again, I meant no offense.

Of course no offense after all we have different beliefs but on that note I should just say I have no soul (I believe anyway) death is just a wonderful nothingness for me.

Then why believe it? Shouldn't you try to believe what is logically nearest to correct?

Again, I say, what is special about believing what is nearest to correct? God would not bless you for using a worldly mind to conclude that your faith was correct. He would reward you for believing without seeing.

What is special about believing something special instead of something closest to correctness? Why would God bless you for believing without seeing, instead of using logic and intelligence to find out? WHY? No offense or anything~

None taken. It's not that logic and intelligence are bad, but that it shouldn't be your only reason for believing. If you deduce that Christianity is the right religion but see no signs, you're actually left with less proof than an idiot that is filled with the Holy Spirit. Basically, faith is belief that you will believe this to the end no matter what logic disproves your point. But I will add, it does help to have logical reasons to back you up.

What exactly is your definition of 'roof?'

That's the same as believing what is incorrect. . . .

thisisnotanalt: My definition of proof is proof to myself, not other people. That's a point that's hard to stress on debate forums. And by logic I mean human logic. We aren't as smart as we think, and whatever proof we think we have, we can't really prove it to ourselves. Either one of us could be believing what is incorrect, no matter what humanity decides is the most logical argument. I hope that makes sense.

@BigP08 If you seriously believe that using God's creation to show that He exists is doubting, I really feel sorry for you. Faith is believing in something you can't taste, feel, smell, hear, or see. I agree with you there, but looking for things that show that what you have faith in is more believable than stuff you don't necessarily believe in doesn't make the "faith" part go away. It just makes your faith stronger.

I must've misspoken. I think it's a great idea to use logic to defend your faith, and it does strengthen it in your mind. I mean that if you believe ONLY because of logic, which is not at all the same as knwoing for certain, then you don't actually have a whole lot to count on.

question BigP08 if you find your logic and your faith disagree which do you go with?

question drschust: if your logic and the evidence don't agree, which do you go with?
