Many years ago, there was a strategy game called Romance of the Three Kingdoms on the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). As soon as I discovered it I haven't stopped playing it. Then came 2,3,4,5,... and so on. I was so interested in the story that I ended up buying the novel. Since I'm not Asian, I got the unabridged translation by Moss Robert in 4 volumes. There are so many characters I like such as Guan Yu, Liu Bei, Zhao Yun, Zhuge Liang, just to name a few.
Anyway I was aware that a TV series was made about it but I never imagined it'll be available to watch on YouTube!
The series is very well made and the characters are realistic. The battles, duels, plots and schemes made by the advisers and their masters are incredible! I'm now on episode 73. As anyone seen it?
I'd like to discuss about it if some people are interested.
My first point would be that Guan Yu, used to be my favorite but when he got older he became arrogant and careless so my admiration for him went downhill. Even though the series is great, I noticed a difference. Wasn't Guan Yu killed by Cao Cao in the novel? If so then why does he get trapped by Lu Meng (Sun Quan's general) in the series? I read the book a long time ago so I could be wrong.
When my computer gets fixed I hope to find some time to start watching it (computer is also reason for lack of response to message on my profile..don't question my logic).

The Wu forces essentially betrayed the Shu forces by teaming up with Wei to take out Guan Yu and capture the Jing province. The forces were lead by Cao Ren from Wei and Lu Meng from Wu (primarily), and it was Lu Meng who was the reason for Guan Yu's death. [Note: Guan Yu was trying to escape but ended up trapped by Lu Meng's men, was killed by a few soldiers after he fell into a trap]

After Lu Meng brought his head to Sun Quan, he himself died. They say he went crazy but I think he was poisoned by Sun Quan's order for disobeying his order to take Jing only but not to kill Guan Yu.

That's how the movie did it? Because that is in now way what happened in the book or in actual events.
I've watched the entire series! I didn't like Sima Yi because he was Zhuge Liang's nemesis but after watching the whole series I don't dislike him as much. Considering how the Cao family treated him all his life, it's amazing how he was able to survive and outsmart them at the end.
I think I'll re read Three Kingdoms again since there were some difference in the TV Series, I want to find them all out.
thank you so much!! ive been looking for a new serie to watch. and i loved the whole setting of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. from both the NES, SNES series, aswell as the dynasty warriors series. i'm not so much of a reader, so i never got to reading the actual novel... is this series closely based on the novel? or is it like dynasty warriors only been used as a guideline?

Red Cliff is mainly about 1 battle.. i forgot the battle name but it's about the 1 where wei's naval was burned down by wu and shu.
