Would you go into this machine?
this was a long way of asking "are you happy with your life?"
Now having a life with everything you always wanted may sound good but it seems we need the bad things aswell to really appreciate the good or not bad things we have.
there are a lot of people that seem to have this "normal life" but are actually very lonely and bad news is hitting them all the time. there is no reason for these people to not go in. you need the bad to appreciate the good. but you need the good to see any sense in life at all.
By being let's say "low" on the money making. Money is not everything. It is generally those who have less in terms of monetary value who can appreciate family. Since your are not working you can spend alot of time with them.
the thing with money is that money does indeed not make happy. but it does make you unhappy if you dont have enough. when being in debt and every penny you earn go's straight to other people, then it is very hard to find happiness in activities for example. money gives you freedom to get and do those things you like.
and not everyone has such a great family to spend time with. you can't choose your family, there are more long time fights and w/e going on in families then your friends. and many people in this world do not have friends.
i draw a very empty life here i know, but it actually is not uncommon. but you will barely ever see it on people in public. it seems people are afraid to show loneliness cause it's such a taboo. not because it's bad, but because it's a hard topic to talk about.
(there has been research done on this question and it seemed that up to 200.000 euro a year people got more and more happy. after they earned more then that. they became less happy because they went thinking that friends are just there for the money and such.)
The meaning of philosophy is the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence, especially when considered as an academic discipline.
this forum is mostly debating not philosophizing...
in debates people try to get the best reasons over a other.
in philosophy people try to find the understanding and reasoning of other peoples thoughts. free of any own interpretation.

there is no real answer to this. we could only tell by measuring now with a time befor. i would say there is more happiness now then there was in WW2. but there is more sadness then there was befor the money crisis thingy.

Is man by nature good or evil?
man as in humanity? in that cause neither. we can care for 1 and wish hell upon a other at the same time.
as for individuals, it's also not a clear yes or no. but i bet there are genes that has something to do with how people make their choices in life. and i can imagion that a different pattern of choices made, can cause for people to become more or less hateful.
Can we have good thing without bad things?
it would be num. we would take all the good things for granted. so we can't actually be happy with the good. and we can't feel bad cause there is nothing bad. i for one would love to get this feeling once. it would be a new feeling that can open thoughts of who i actually am. without all the good and bad interruptions of life.
