Something I came across today which I thought was pretty cool, here's my loadout:

http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/907/ckns.png

Comfortable clothing, M14 rifle with silencer, scope and flashlight, knife for meele encounters, two boxes of spare ammo and a ton of food because chances are once I find a safezone I wouldn't want to leave there for a long time

Post your own and add a sentence or two about your choices.

You may want to rethink your weapon.

Why? What's wrong with... *Looks up* only 150 yards? OK, imagine it's a Steyr Scout Tactical (the site is playing up).

OK, this is much better, in that that the primary rifle isn't rimfire:

Primary is a Remington 870, backup weapons are Colt Government Model (.45 ACP) and a machete. Packed plenty of spare, common ammunition and supplies. Totals off at 17.3 kg, or 38 pounds. Not too heavy for me, considering that I can carry a lot of weight on my back.

@apldeap123

That's a pretty good set of equipment. The only things it could really benefit from are some spare power supplies for the electrical items, navigation equipment, a blanket or sleeping bag, and something to start a fire with. A sunhat would also be useful. The other criticism I could make would be that you don't have a weapon that can fire effectively over 100 yards (~91 metres).

@09philj You don't need extreme range, especially since as range goes up so does the difficulty of getting a head-shot.

In fact, iirc at the battle of hope they didn't even start firing until the zombies reached 100 meters away.

@Jacen96

It's much more difficult to fire a weapon over distances close to it's maximum effective range. Thus, a weapon with a greater maximum range would likely be more effective over the same distance.

@09philj

Distance is good when you're picking off zombies or baddies from a distance. But most of the time, you are facing zombies right in front of you. So I picked shotgun. Plus, most assault rifles aren't legal where I live, so I picked stuff that I could easily get.

I have made three people.... one is not very organised but fast. The other is very professional but kind of packed. The last is the most professional but lacks ballistic protection. Pick the one that would match you the most!

@MattEmAngel , your set is the best around here in terms of efficiency combined with things you have a chance of finding. However, a realistic set would be quite different. I've decided to make a scavenger kind of survivor - traveller. This is the most realistic I could make (2 versions: 1 with brown long coat and another with rags):

http://s11.postimg.org/n5cl0ivc3/Lone_Survivor_1.jpg
http://s15.postimg.org/kua4aoinv/Lone_Survivor_2.jpg

- AK-47 is by far the most common weapon outside the U.S.
- More likely to have a Beanie than a cap (at least more likely to pick it, especially in colder regions)
- 1911A1 is a very common pistol
- Common weapons go with common ammo
- Vests with pouches are hard to find so I've not included them, unlike a brown messenger bag.

The rest are mainly from scavenging:

- Flashlight
- A book
- Batteries
- Just 1 - 2 mags, he wouldn't pick more.
- Medical supplies are the most basic (bandages, painkillers)
- Knife is wasteland-like (duh)
- A thermos is not that hard to find and a survivor would prefer it
- A blanket (remember he is the moving type)
- Matches are more common and more preferrable in an apocalypse imo
- Food is mainly in cans or easily preserved and cooked (i.e. rice). Most food would probably be consumed immediately
- Weapon has obviously no attachments
- A compass is a traveller's best friend
- I forgot to add a map, but a traveller would surely have one.

Please give me feedback on this! Thanks.
