Ah... that explains... it is indeed one of the key elements you need to achieve before being able to continue in the game @Foxydesert! Have fun gaming then! =)
So I have everything possible upgraded, but the "Learn and Live" achievement hasn't come up. Any solutions?
Edit: Found a fix. When I went to my equipment screen and put one of my mercenaries on reserve, the achievement procced. Hope that fix works for anyone else having the same problem.
I should have some of these quests by now, but the online save isn't saving most of my progress. Two hours of clicking and strained eyes went to waste yesterday.
@themastaplaya : did you make sure to click the return to the main menu button before closing the screen? I can't help but thinking that it is something related to either your internet connection or your computer... =)
@TurkSkywalker : what do you mean with 'mines'? Do you mean traps? =/
Ah, ok! Misunderstood it there... the game was build to have you play more against zombies to make money. If the mines were to generate money, the game would have been a lot shorter @TurkSkywalker!

I remember that I had a good internet connection at the time, but I'm not entirely sure that I exited to main menu before leaving. I think I just went to the region map before leaving. I thought that the game saved after every mission you complete.
I have a bug that needs to be fixed. The quests are showing like I have already finished them, even though I am on the beginning. I noticed the problem after I have saved 10 citizens and the quest didn't trigger. Here's a screen shot:
In case anyone else is still working on these badges, I'm getting through them without much problem on "Easy." The 3 "complete upgrade" badges will just take a while, so the toughest one was the 10 trolls at a time, I think. I tried someone's suggestion of trapping them first before grabbing; it was fun to try, but in the end I found it easier to do the "lure shoot" method someone else mentioned. (Shoot all the small monsters first to clear them out, and then shoot trolls one at a time from a distance to lure them in to grab them.) I got it on my first try. It is kind of fun to rampage through town with a whole army of trolls, I have to say.
I'm just starting to realize how long it's going to take to get the 3 Upgrade badges, especially the "max experience level on all weapons and armor." Think I'll skip that last one, but getting the other two will take some time, too.
How much time is "not much time"? I can get about 8-9K gold and 1.0 weapon increase in the 5-minute survival (southest outside area), which means that to level up all the weapons and all the armor and all the abilities is going to take a long time. The other survival area can get more gold and more experience per play ... but only if you spend more time.
For example, to level up the Lionheart Greatsword requires about 40K from start to finish ... which means about 4 plays of survival. 4x5 = 20 minutes for one weapon. 10 (?) weapons = 200 minutes. Double that for armor and abilities = 400 minutes ... and that's conservative, I think, especially given that some weapons and armor are more expensive.
Weapon experience is another ball game, and I just wish I had been changing up weapons as I was playing through so I hadn't ended up with so many weapons to increase. If I were to pursue the max weapon/armor increase (which I'm not), it would take me 6 (my remaining unused weapons) x 10 (number of experience levels each weapon has) plays in survival .... 60 plays x 5 minutes each = 300 minutes.
Unless anyone has any shortcuts, I think I'm going to call it quits after leveling up all the armor and abilities -- I just need 25K for that. I don't feel like grinding through 3 more hours of survival waves just to get the last two badges.
And as long as I'm venting, it would have been nice to do more with the mines ... I have thousands of crates, but nothing to do with them. Maybe separating out the abilities from the armor and weapons would have been good. Gold for armor and weapons and crates for abilities.
