As soon as you select the Spartan, the exoskeleton is strapped onto you, and your whole body is covered by thick plates of pilot's suit. There are no visual openings, instead there are cameras that transmit images to a screen a foot and a half away from your eyes. As soon as you are locked into the suit, the tank is blasted open, and you drift out into space. You see the dropship your tank was on. There is another Dreadnought locking into a Hoplite mech in the tank that was next to you. You are drifting away from the ship slowly, but you can feel yourself getting pulled by the slight gravity of the nearby planet.

What is UTS-15?
The UTS-15 is a tactical, semi-automatic shotgun. Feel free to ask questions about any weapon featured and I'll give you as much information as I have
You are locked into the hoplite mech, with a display 1.5 feet in front of your eyes. On the display you see a Spartan mech slowly drifting away from the ship you're in. The tank you're in opens, releasing you into the vacuum of space. Fortunately, the pilot's armor is equipped with an oxygen tank and a rebreather.

Can I split these guys up into the other squads?
No, but what you can do is select two APC-type vehicles for them to drive, and distribute the appropriate amount of squads into each one. Also, if you could attach a callsign to each team you have (e.g. fireteam: Alpha team, support team: bravo team, etc) so I could add them to your platoon roster. I know, it's complicated, but it will save a lot of confusion later, since you have more than one of each team.

Your squad board a dropship, and the other squads board theirs. The dropship pilots head out the hangar doors, and towards the planet. If you want to give any last-minute orders to your men, or instructions, or ask your platoon leader what the objective is, now would be the time. Note that at any time you can order your men to do anything, including shoot themselves, drop their pants and charge the enemy, or anything else you can think of. Whether or not they obey really depends on how good a leader you are, and how ridiculous/suicidal the order itself is.

What you see is mayhem. The enemy has entrenched themselves in, well, trenches. There are many machine gun nests, artillery pits, and vast amounts of enemy soldiers on the ground. So far there doesn't seem to be any armor, and few fighters.
The orbital bombardment was stopped once the first few brigades were boots-on-ground, and a few platoons to the rear of the main force are struggling to establish a tactical command center. Your wing of vultures is supposed to provide tactical support to infantry on the ground. The rest of your wing is splitting up into pairs and singles to better cover this section of the battlefield.
You should probably deploy your weapons if you want to shoot anytime in the near future. Your rocket pods are always deployed.
