what's a point of these quests? Do they give you something? Or is it just a colourful icon?
Quests are essentially achievements. The amount of quests you have will determine your position in the Hero Board. Some quests, like the Heavenly quest in King of Towers, even unlock special armatars.
@swagmaster1487 Did you do it on Hard mode? You'll have to disable your heroes as well, leaving them at the end of the path and not using them to fight isn't going to trigger the Quest.
I have a question regarding fortifying towers. Thus far, I've been leveling up the towers evenly to complete the "Consolidating Power" quests ASAP and I'm at about level 14-15 for all towers. However I'm pretty much only relying on archer (sniper + 50cal) and cannon towers for damage. .
Considering that I'm only interested in getting the quests, does it make sense to level up all the 4 towers, or should I ignore the barracks and mage towers and just level up archer and cannons?
Also sorry if this topic has already been raised, I only skimmed through the last 39 pages and may have overlooked something.
@llama132 Eventually you will need most of the towers to help you pass through to get 300 stars, though barracks is somewhat useless up till now for me, and my towers are level 40ish.
Mage towers are incredibly useful since they slow down and push back enemies. For now, try to invest in Assassin Towers since they're more useful than .50 cals at your level. Dragoneer is good as well, and after that, get the Witch Tower.
Regarding the .50 cals, I was following up on what Olinser said earlier on in this thread. They have been very useful in bringing down big enemies (combined with cannons for crowd control, and a couple barracks just to hold the mobs in position for the cannons). I was planning on getting Dragoneer next once I accumulated enough dark crystals.
What exactly does the Assassin tower offer? It seems to be doing about 2/3 of the damage of the Sniper (even before .50 cal), so I imagine some further upgrade really buffs it up?
I just killed the tundra boss on normal and have 144 stars now. So far I haven't found mages to be really useful (don't think I used them even once during the entire tundra stage, and didn't face any problems), since I felt their rate of fire is too low for the knockback to be effective. The armor-piercing also didn't seem very significant - I got better results from just packing a few more cannons in. Are they more effective in the lava or desert stages?
Also, can I assume that you mean that I should be fortifying all towers except barracks?
@llama132 Yep, the buffs are really good, the Assassin tower is OP for dealing with mobs early on, up till Marshlands, something the Sniper is poor at.
And yes, the mage towers are more useful in the lava and desert stages. Lava has a steep difficulty curve. Mages are really useful not so much for the damage, but to deal with the huge mobs that come along later.
Think you can upgrade the barracks slightly, but I don't recall using them at all. That was some time ago though. You could follow the build here, it's one of the more conventional ones.
@nichodemus I thought I was getting on fine with the .50cals, and then I hit Fauna Forge Heroic (the one that doesn't allow cannons). Now I see how useful the Assassin + Flycutter would have been.
Getting those now would take me another three weeks though, by which point I was hoping to be done with the quests, so I'm going to try making it through with the Snipers using Olinser's strategy on youtube.
Hopefully none of the other Heroic levels restrict cannons D:
@llama132 Yup, some levels restrict your use of towers, which is a real pain in the neck.
Assassin Towers make the Desert stage bearable. Also, once you hit Lava, don't expect to complete all the difficulties, just move to the next stage!
Good luck, truth be told, I've not used barracks at all! (Aside from one right at the end for insurance of sorts). Hopefully his strategy comes out good.
@nichodemus I finally beat Fauna Forge Heroic, and I have to say you were completely right. I tried several times to beat it with .50 cal Snipers and failed every time. So I just spent a couple weeks logging in daily to accumulate dark crystals, got Flycutter Assassins and upgraded Hail to Blizzard. That made that level easy.
Now I'm slowly making it through the rest of the lava Heroic and Hard stages, cause I can't get to desert till level 30. I have Dragooner too, so hopefully this setup should be sufficient for the rest of the levels.
