I think you're missing a lead pipe since there's been a bit of a flooding in the conservatory. So perhaps a lead pipe was removed there beforehand and when the murder weapon was cleaned, all the water came out into the conservatory after going down into the pipes.

But a fancy room like the Ballroom isn't going to clean and shine itself; the mops would logically be placed in/near the room where they're used most often.

The staff wouldn't be able to do that. This is a luxurious mansion, not every room is suitable for mop placing The head of staff, mrs. White would have to abide by the owner's wishes.

Exactly the reason why I think it is ridiculous to store a mop in the ballroom. The ballroom is a rather prestigious room, certainly no place for a mop; and such a large mansion is bound to have a room for cleaning supplies of any sort. We should definitely interrogate the cleaning staff.

Clearly, the tavern wasn't killed with any blunt object. It would take any of these individuals a long time to cause such destruction. A fire could have done it perhaps...

Now that I think about it, why was the tavern targeted anyway? Also, let's not forget the most crucial suspect of them all, Mr Boddy! He built this mansion so he should know every nook and cranny of this place! That is, assuming he didn't decide to commit suicide.

Who is the owner, by the way?

I believe it's Mr. Boddy, if my memory serves me correctly.

Is there a wrench or something missing from the garage, as well?

The wrench, and a length of rope. A pistol, custom to the mansion, is now missing as well. The plot thickens!

No, you're all wrong, the mop in the Ballroom serves as a mere distraction, the one who killed The Tavern wants us to think it was killed there... it must have been anywhere else... any ideas?

I say we do a seance and ask the departed spirit of the Tavern.

What if the spirit has a full inbox?

Ultimately, the spirit will return to a corporeal form, as it always does. I am unsure whether this closeness to life will make communicating easier or harder. If a building can communicate at all.

Don't worry. Ancient buildings can materialise as humanoid spirits through spirit magic. So then, it'll be able to provide details of its murder.

But what if The Tavern doesn't tell us the truth? D:

Look, as long as the spirit magic is in effect, the building spirit cannot lie. And besides, why would the victim want to lie in the first place anyway? I'll imagine that they'll be hungry for justice to be brought upon the perpetrator.

I don't know Chryos, maybe The Tavern is afraid of its killer, maybe it is someone who could hunt even spirits and kill them! D:

*draws a blood pentagram in the ground*

so... does anyone speak Latin here? I mean, for the summoning and all?

Who said it had to be Latin? For all we know the incantations could be in German or Spanish. Our maybe one of those African language which communicates via tongue clicking. In fact, English could probably work too.
