Hey guys, I feel like the mods don't see how much we appreciate them. Did you guys know that it's a normal thing for a mod to delete dozens of spam, and when it gets crazy, they delete hundreds. I learned that from a mod telling me his experience about it when I reported a spam wave in one of the sub forums.
I wanted to make this thread to lighten the mood. Okay? We tend to forget that they are also users like us, and we only look at them as mods, so hear are some reasons why these people are great. Also, I know I'm missing some mods in my post, but that's only because I haven't had the chance to interact with them, but I would love to pay a great deal of respect to them as well.
MrDayCee - Did you know that this guy is so nice, you could almost imagine bunnies and flowers all over him. He helps people out with their art (like he did when I started posting mine) and he definitely rocks at his own art. Hey guys, not to mention his incredibly broad taste in music. But wait! Don't piss him off, because when he does his job, he will turn into an intelligent BA whipping you with arguments you'd think Moe created. yes sir, give this man a medal.
Gantic - Hey guys, this guy defines FGs. He creates some of the best FGs AG has to offer. He's a mystery to everyone, and yet still loved by our community! Don't mention that keeping track of the count (the place accountable for everything) is hard enough, he has to keep track of the poetry contest! I've always imagined if he really was a bunny on a laptop, because his games are incredible. His contributions are so huge by the number that I can't comprehend it.
UnleashedUponMankind - Hey guys, ever heard of the misunderstood metal head? Unleashed has to be this guy. His sick taste in music always seems to surprise me and sometimes make my bang, up and down and up. He's nice too, but don't let him collect your head! He's always welcoming new users! He's a nice guy everyone! He had to carry bags for his wife when they went shopping. No one likes doing that, but being the man Unleashed is, he did it while still lookin' cool. Oh yeah, he has the coolest armatar. They say users are still jealous, to this day.
Kegaumongo - Whoa whoa, you're telling me you made that... with PAINT? She's fiercely friendly with her amazing art, and when you talk to her, you almost forget she's a mod. Her sense of creativity brings life to the art contests, and albeit not around as much as we would want her to be, still make a big impact on our forums!
Moegreche - Hey guys, did you know, that this guy, has a jumbillion merits? There's a reason for that! His top notch arguments and contributions to the WERP thread are insane, and on another level. But that's what you would expect from a professor in Philosophy. He's wise, and is never biased on helping people in the great debates. This guy, is AG's definition of user intelligence. His armatar is literally a brain. Not to mention the fact that on one round, he had to debate against all of the users who signed up.
So again, I'm just highlighting some moderators I've had a good amount of interaction with. (To any mod that sees this and isn't on my list, I truly apologize and hope to interact with you more in the future, but you still have my deepest respect) No guys really, these guys really deserve our respect. There's a reason why they were chosen to be mods, and that's because they are darn good at it. They work their jobs and this job too, which btw, is volunteer work, which asks for the greatest of respect. I think I speak for most of our community when I say that we really, honest to god, love you guys and hope you know that we do appreciate you.
So to any users reading this, share your stories or experiences on mods and/or why you appreciate them!
Well, I've never seen @MrDayCee that fierce before his interactions with twillight2... While reasonable, sharp and to the point, I literally thought he was not the same person. Like I've been hearing for a long time, never piss the nice ones off. Push them too much, and they'll become something you don't recognize. And, aside from that, he always encourages you to speak your mind. To talk about things no matter how insignificant they are. I've caught myself visiting his profile just to talk about something pretty small and insignificant I've achieved. Guilt was taking me over but, when he replied, not only he upvoted my comment and shared a similar experience, he also thanked me for sharing it! So to him, a great Thank you.
@Gantic is that mysterious individual who apparently destroys most of the spam and makes some really cool forum games, also replying in a very short amount of time to comments. I haven't had that many interactions with him, and, many years ago, he was even criticized for this stance by users (luckily in a friendly manner. In a forum game). But I think, there's more to him than meets the eye, so thanks for all your hard work
@Moegreche is the pure genious behind the WEPR. To be perfectly honest, I hadn't noticed him, or the way he interacts with users until, a dispute with (you've probably guessed who) a user about Theism and Atheism. When things got ugly, he stepped in, literally stopping the user's rude and aggressive remarks against me. Yes, it may be his duty as a mod but, how would you feel about it? I visited his profile to thank him, and he responded with a very calm, very polite comment that was quite literally, awe-inspiring. Ever since then, we had some discussions about Logic, and, that's how I've come to respect him so much... So, to him, a great thank you! For everything!
@UnleashedUponMankind is known as that count killing mod with the cool armatar but he is more than that. Yes he listens to a lot of metal (and some really heavy/death/black/thrash music ), so? As a spam bane with a style, it is a shame I don't happen to see him anywhere else than 2 categories and one other thread...
@Strop - What can I say about that character. Just amazing. Through even my few interactions with him, I realized that he was someone I could never even come close to being... Very kind, extraordinary talent both for writing and for drawing, creator of the WoM and all of the above, even while having so little spare time as a doctor! This man is a savior both of the community in the sense that he destroys (or, at least, used to destroy) spam, and people in general as a doctor! A heart-felt thanks and congratulations for all the amazing artworks.
@Kegaumongo - Not much in the way of interactions sadly, probably because I am an untalented lazy piece of meat when it comes to art... Still, merely the amazing creations with PAINT deserve my respect! Congrats!
@Zophia - Quite possibly the first mod I encountered in the forums, Zophia gave off the impression that she was everywhere, despite hanging out mainly in the AMW. Very polite and helpful, she was the first to help me in my way around the forums, so, she deserves my respect! Thanks
I took the time to write all of this and tag you because it is hte least I can do to show my gratitude and respect. I hope it makes your day (at least a bit) better!
@pangtongshu, Yes, because I haven't had the chance to really interact with them, sadly. But that's why I made this thread, so people could share their experiences with mods!
@akshobhya I've actually explained why I missed some of the mods, and it's because I haven't really interacted with them, so I really don't have a basis on how to describe them. Though, I must say again, I respect what they do and appreciate everything they do for the site, and it pains me that I couldn't include them, it's not favoritism or anything, it's just that. I respect them. I can't stress that enough.
The first mod I have interacted with was actually UnleashedUponMankind before he even was a mod. He was the first to comment on my profile and told me how I could have my cookies not deleted. Then, I met the other mods after becoming more active on the forum games and they were all really nice! Unfortunately, I haven't interacted with many of the other mods but I'm pretty sure they are nice too!
considering that brutal cluster with twillight2 i believe that the mods here are amazing. For once theres a website that has mods that ACTUALLY reply to what you say. The mods in other words act like reasonable human beings here and aren't a bunch of 2serious 4 you guys lol. I seriously love the way they handle things here. i hope i don't sound like a kissup
I appreciate every single one of you equally. Since I know specific things about some of you from my experiences here, you select few will get an especially equal mention.
I talked to @Moegreche briefly when I was new here. I don't think he was a moderator at the time on account of being on some sort of hiatus, and he has since removed me as a friend as of recently, but I assume it is only because there are already two people on his list with otter armatars.
@Zophia was another mod I saw a lot when I was new. @Strop as well. Haven't seen them too much since, but I remember they were pretty popular back then.
@MrDayCee ran all the big music threads for a while, and then he became a mod and took on new responsibilities. Very optimistic, like that Skeleton guy but less intense. If I were anything remotely reminiscent of an artist I would participate in one of his armatar contests.
@Gantic is all over the place, and from what I have seen he is always very busy. I've seen some of his threads and I don't know what to make of them, mostly because I don't know how he finds the time to create things that are so intricate while dealing with rule-kickers at the same time.
@kegaumongo is a great artist, so unfortunately we have nothing in common at the moment, but she did participate in the castle building contest a few times, so since that looks to be returning I hope to see her there.
@Freakenstein has been here for a while, and though I don't know much about him I can tell by his use of exclamation points that he's very serious all the time and is a no-nonsense moderator.
I don't really know the rest of you very well, but that may change one day. I should warn you I'm dreadfully boring, so if you do decide to leave a message on my profile, be prepared for the snore-fest that is @DrElmer. I don't know why I tagged myself in this post since I'm right here. Anything to get an email I suppose.
Thanks to all of you for keeping me coming here for 5 years!
