Dear Student, Welcome to the Alder-Kast School of Magical Research, even in these trying times we appreciate the commitment you have made in coming here. It is thanks to youth such as yourself that we have a future ahead of us and know that we all appreciate the sacrifices you have most graciously accepted to become a student of this prestigious school. Our time will be a happy and tragic one as we discover ourselves and each other before submitting to the war effort that keeps our strong nation alive. I have high expectations for you and I have no doubt that you will surpass every challenge with the help of our expert and experienced staff. I eagerly await your arrival! Regards, Sebastian Pyrrane, Head Magister
Welcome to Shrouds & Magic, as this is a role-play the content will primarily be story driven and story points will be revealed and developed as we continue. There will be character interactions between players so I ask that you respect anything that the other user posts, and if there are disagreements I will settle them. Once we have a few people I will be posting the initial environment for everyone. I hope to have lots of fun and interesting adventures together!

Silver: Kalissa's cheeks faintly turn a shade a of pink as she smiles in return, her hands moving behind her back "So are you all packed up? It's a long way from home, I know I got homesick my first year there." she thoughtfully mentions, then a low-growl emits from her stomach causing a bit of embarrassment to grow in her face "..Oh, I was so excited to get here that I skipped lunch..." your mom suddenly chimes in "Well why don't you two go to that dinner you always went to as kids? You could catch up a little before you guys head off." she mentions and Kalissa's eyes lighten up a little "I'd love that, how about Alikith?" she asks happily, a bit of pleading in her voice.
JACK: The girl seems a little surprised that you agreed so effortless "Well..thanks." she seems to debate something in her head for a split moment before a small smile crosses her lips "I guess I should introduce myself, the name is Say'ri Zendiah, heir to the Zendiah royal house." she says with pride and purity, not even paying attention to your rather unusual appearance. The large gates close behind as the staff take their own seats on top of the large stage, it is then you notice the heavily armored guards on watch both on the walls and around the immediate vicinity of the stage.
Eliakith: "You should expect word with three days but until that point, you take the standard classes with the others. Feel free to explore the grounds today, classes don't begin until tomorrow for new students." she mentions keeping a professional attitude, Jaryl leaning against the wall near the door waiting for the two of you to finish, his arms crossed in a relaxed position
Red: He smiles hearing that you accept the invitation but it soon fades as you question him about the nature of his injuries "I was ambushed by bandits, there was more than I could handle." he states rather plainly "I must return to the School, feel..free to go ahead without me." he says beginning to walk further down the beaten dirt path walking at steady, but slow pace.
"Any time." I say after her thanks, giving her a toothy grin. "Say'ri? A beautiful name indeed." I say looking at her eyes, I inspect her clothing before looking away, leaving a pause. Almost ignoring the fact that she's a royal, "Are those royal guards or just the ones they keep on the payroll here?" I ask slightly tilting my head in her direction so I can see the guards more clearly, specifically if they are watching us, or the seats on the podium.
Name: Shark
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Race: Half Shark
Bio: Once was cursed when he was a baby that he will have the instincts of a shark. Without seeing any color, and has a sixth sense he learned magic.
Description: He is very short, no hair, blue eyes, and shark teeth.
"Alright then. Thank you very much." I turn to Jaryl, "Can we head to the rune development center? I'd like to explore it and get the rune of understanding... Prescribed to me."
JACK: Say'ri nods slightly, keeping a small smile "My mother gave it to me." she says with thoughtfully not paying attention as you look at her, her smile fading with the pause in conversation as she looks at the podium before you mention the guards "Well, only two of them are here for me. You can tell by their armor since they are green and shaped with scales meant to resemble a dragon. They're my friends though, Aren and Hurk." she looks towards one of the other guards, their uniform consisting of a black hood and a robe underneath their armor. "I've heard about them, nobody knows what they are actually called but everyone knows them by the name 'The watchers'." she says with a bit of fear just as the person on the podium finishes talking to the others and takes his place at the head of the stage "Firstly, I want to welcome you all to the Alder-Kast School of Magical Research. My name is Sebastian Pyrrane, the headmaster at this school and its leading researcher. This school has..." the headmaster continues his speech for another half-hour, his voice very enthusiastic and manages to keep most of the students paying attention right up to the end up his speech "...and it is so that I have high expectations of all of you, and hope that you shall exceed them." he finishes with a comforting smile "Now you will proceed by sections following a professor to the dormitories where everything you brought with you will already be waiting in the main lobby. You may pick your roommate." he says as teachers close in around, the first few rows exiting by the instruction of a older-looking woman "Good luck to you all in whatever path you choose." he finishes before stepping down, walking away from the scene followed by several of the watchers. You notice Say'ri's guards walk nearby, waiting to follow when its your turn.
Silver: Kalissa begins to follow you "Do you need any help? It's been awhile since I've last been in your room." she smiles with a small laugh "I hope it isn't trashed like usual." she says obviously joking around
Eliakith: Jaryl nods as he leans forward back unto his feet "Yeah, once there you can talk to Sanger Weylan, the head of development there. I think he actually is looking for a new apprentice lately." he mentions as the two of you exit the building, heading across the decorated gardens of the central school where you see a group of students playing a game of tag it seems, however when the one student tag someone he stuck a rune on him and he froze. Jaryl doesn't see them and just continues on the way "I never really studied runes myself, I took a class or two but never could get how to make them work properly." he says casually
Red: You can feel him watching you as put several paces ahead on him, there are a couple towns on the way to the school as well as an actual road not too far there leads directly in that direction. The forest was filled with the usual sounds of bird songs and insects chirping, a peaceful day despite the old man.
Lowco: You are sitting at table in your home village by the sea, a man in a officials uniform writing information across from you "So your name is Shark? Is that right?" he simply asks, his ginger goatee and bangs showing underneath the hood he wore, his clothes were navy in color with red and white outlines and accents, his age approximately late thirties. The sun was shining upon the two of you as table was set just outside the tavern, on a deck that hung over the crashing waves.
Smiling I say "Sure, come on in." And realizing I can't remember how I left my room I silently pray Please let my have cleaned it and gotten my stuff ready! as I push the door open bracing myself...
Excited, I decide to take the road straight there. I find the man's behavior curious, but decide his intentions are pure, considering he's probably a teacher.
"I don't know the specifics of it. As far as I know, it has to do something with applying yourself to the rune. It's complicated to explain. Also, I believe I am running low on word count with my current rune. Let us retrieve the new rune."
JACK: You can see Say'ri's eyes light up a little, her head turning to face yours "Really?" she says somewhat shyly and excited, smiling before snapping back to a formal posture "I suppose that would be fine." she says more calmly and controlled. You notice that a lot of other students are talking about roommates as well. The first group of students in the front rows have cleared out and are already heading to the dorms, your section is then called by a rather muscular man, perhaps too much muscle, motioning to which rows should follow him "You are with me, do NOT fall behind." his voice bellows as he begins to walk, the people exiting out the left where he was standing. Say'ri stands up and brushes her dress back into its straight and smooth form "Since we are going to be roommates, do you mind me asking where are you from?" she asks curiously, a small friendly smile present on her face as she follows behind you.
Silver: A miracle happens as the room is mostly clean, the only mess is the pile of items you have packed. Kalissa brushes past you as she looks around, as if taking in a rare site "I was expecting MUCH worse, did you clean it yourself or was it your mom again?" she giggles a little, giving you a playful glare.
Red: The man soon disappears out of sight and you reach the cobbled road without incident, a weathered wooden sign pointing east reads "Alder-Kast School....Town of Haven....Delrio Fortress" . The road has always been well-maintained as evidenced by the lack of cracks, weeds, and general state of the cobble. In the far distance just within view you see a large building, most likely an inn, with smoke rising from its chimney with a cloaked figure in a tattered robe about half-way between you and the building shambling towards it.
Eliakith: Jaryl seems genuinely intrigued by your explanation before shrugging "Well I guess you learn some people just have a natural talent for certain types of magics. Let's hurry then." and with that he quickens his pace, in the distance at the entrance of the school you see what must have been a ceremony just ending as a large mass of people, possibly students, head in groups to a large complex. You reach the Runic Research building, opening the doors you see what appears to be a large chamber, devoid of much structure except for a few constructs that look magical but are unfamiliar. A single staircase lies in the back of the room. In the center of the room lies a table where a very elderly and fragile looking man is clearly etching runes of all sorts of materials and mumbling to himself about proper procedures and techniques. Jayrl gestures towards him "Well meet your Dean of your department, Sir Gregory Alabaster. Just tell him what you need and show him the script." he announces
"Greetings, sorry to cut formalities, but I require this." I show him the script. I don't know how close I cut it, but last time mine broke, leaving me practically stranded.
I give a shy smile "I honestly don't remember, but i hope it was me." I move to find a bag to put the items in. "What is it like at the school?" I ask.
