Dear Student, Welcome to the Alder-Kast School of Magical Research, even in these trying times we appreciate the commitment you have made in coming here. It is thanks to youth such as yourself that we have a future ahead of us and know that we all appreciate the sacrifices you have most graciously accepted to become a student of this prestigious school. Our time will be a happy and tragic one as we discover ourselves and each other before submitting to the war effort that keeps our strong nation alive. I have high expectations for you and I have no doubt that you will surpass every challenge with the help of our expert and experienced staff. I eagerly await your arrival! Regards, Sebastian Pyrrane, Head Magister
Welcome to Shrouds & Magic, as this is a role-play the content will primarily be story driven and story points will be revealed and developed as we continue. There will be character interactions between players so I ask that you respect anything that the other user posts, and if there are disagreements I will settle them. Once we have a few people I will be posting the initial environment for everyone. I hope to have lots of fun and interesting adventures together!

I take a half bow, straightening my posture into a more regal one and change my usual accent toward a more genteel one, "M'lady the name is Drake." I say taking her hand before kissing it gently, "You look shocked madam, what seems to be the problem? Is it those large men in the armor, no need to worry about them they won't break any of your furniture, I'm sure." I say with an elegant laugh.
Name-Nivlac
Age- 23
Gender-Male
Race-Human
Bio: Nivlac has always seemed to be interested in magic, mostly necromancy. He summoned his first creature when he was 12 and has recently learned how to summon spirits.
Appearance: Short black hair, 5"11, Pale skin, Usually seen with a black bag that carries his spell book and rune chalk, Usually has his skull topped staff on his back.
I say "Definitely." as I begin to put items into the bag, "And Sure, I would love to live wi- in the same house as you." with slight nervousness, "Sounds like the police force must be pretty lazy."
Eliaktih: He nods as you explain your origin of knowledge "Interesting.." he mumbles as you ask your question, a small smile creasing his weathered face "Professor Devenar to you, and the material is called Lunite. It's mined in the mountains in which this cities lies between. It has very..adaptable characteristics for magic." he explains "I chisel the inscription with a ancient tool that channels one's magic into whatever it is they are crafting, be it a staff, wand, sword, or a rune." he points to what you he has just given you "Just don't abuse it." he weakly laughs
Red: You make it towards the inn room without further incident, half of the the room's doors are open without occupants but you find your's near the end of the hall and notice bathrooms and even a shower. The inside of your room contains a single window peering to the outside forest, the dull light of the moon illuminating what a burning wax candle cannot. The decor of the room is a combination of warm colors, red and brown covers, a caramel wall, and a well-kept furnished wooden floor. A table and a chair, a large wardrobe, and two bed-side tables serving as its only furniture, the craftsmanship simple but well-made. You ease into the bed, the mattress incredibly comfy and soft as you fully lay your body into it and drift slowly off to sleep...
JACK: The woman blushes heavily as you kiss her hand, a embarrassed smile on her red lips appearing to be tongue tied slightly "Well...Drake I will take your word on it." She manages to get out meanwhile Say'ri you can hear let out a quiet "Hmph." and you can practically see her eyes rolls as she retrieves the key from a drawer and places into your hands "It has been a real pleasure Drake, and if you need anything the name's Rei." she then looks over at Say'ri with a smirk "Your boyfriend is quite the gentleman.." Say'ri's face appeared to drain of all color except the rosy red on her cheeks before she gives Rei a death stare, her guards gasping at the very thought "He is NOT my boyfriend." Rei quickly then grins wildly for a bit "My apologies, m'lady. I just thought since you were rooming together...but my bad." but Say'ri just looks up at you "Can we just go to the room now?" she asks quietly, clearly embarassed
Silver: Kalissa practically jumps off the bed, one of her ear-piercing squeals filling the room "Yay! I can't wait to be roommates!" and gives you one of her signature hugs, in which no mortal being can escape with her body pressing against you before she slowly backs off "Don't worry, the school often sends senior students to deal with them. They do have the watchers, but they're creepy in uniform." she mentions, a shiver going through her body.
Nivlac: You have just received a message from your teacher, who up until this point taught you everything he knew in necromancy and how to use it properly unlike so many others. On your way there you notice a shambling body walking towards you, because of your knowledge you know this to be a walking corpse, a un-dead, however you know it was not your master since he never let any of his experiments free. It moves closer towards you, obviously seeking to feast on your mortal flesh.
I chuckle, hugging her back, I then turn back to bagging and place the various items into the bag making sure it all gets in, "So what are you studying at the school?"
"Yes sir. Now, to the formalities. I am Eliakith of Altea, and as I understand, you're going to be my superior. I just... Applied here, and I would like to look around inside this building. Are there any rules and guidelines I should know?"
"Of course we can." I say keeping the accent before moving away from the table. I attempt to keep Say'ri behind me as I clear a path for myself toward the entrance to the tower, keeping a firm grip on the key. "Stay close, people generally move out of my way so that should get us out of the crowed with ease." I say dropping back to my regular tone, as we move away from people I turn my head slightly, "Sorry if I embarrassed you back there, I forget that happens to people sometimes."
Name- Gene Solomon
Age- 17
Gender- Male
Race- Human
Bio: It's all been leading up to this. The years of digging through the trash for food, picking up neglected coins off the streets... Finally I get a chance to let my skills flourish. Without much formal training, I learned most of my magical training through books I "acquired". With Dad gone for years now and Mother constantly working, I have been too busy to focus on these things, being the leading male of what little household we have. I might not of had as much formal training as some of the other students... But I feel I make up for it in wit and strength. The streets teach you a lot. But it's time to learn more.
Appearance: I'm of average height, but built like a brick wall. After years of working labor intensive jobs to make ends meet, it shows in my physique and my rough hands and face. I tend to haphazardly keep my long brown hair back in a knot and almost always have a faint scruffy beard growing. My clothes may not be the most colorful nor the highest quality, but they do their job. I am almost always wearing a simple white cloth shirt, brown pants, shoes to match and a worn red neck scarf that I'd use to cover my face while working or to keep warm. When I am not working I wear a large gray cloak (a memory of my father).
"I know I'm a bit late, but I live very far away from the school and got hit with unexpected storms on my way here."
Red: Sunlight cracks through the blinds covering the window, indicating morning has come. You can hear the soft snores of a few other patrons sleeping in the rooms around you as you exit your own, the mumbling of casual conversation stemming from downstairs. When you enter the lower floor, the same atmosphere of joy and idleness has left leaving only more somber looks behind. You can hear bits of a conversation as you sit down at a wooden table "Yeah, there was no mistake. An undead attacked a woman last night." another chimes in "People attacked on the roads....times are getting dangerous again.." he somberly says just as a waitress walks up to your table with a smile "Hello, did you have a peaceful night's rest?" she asks in a friendly tone "What can I get ya? We can make almost anything you'd like."
Silver: Kalissa smiles "I'm glad you asked." she stands tall, her hands on her hips "I am studying Alchemy, my teacher is the best and one day I'll surpass him!" she pridefully exclaims then she laughs a little at her own silliness "I also practice pyromancy when I can." she calms adds
Eliakith: Devenar smiles with a slow laugh "Eager are we? I admire that in a student." he motions around the entire room "This is know as the Creix Workshop, where students and staff alike test their creations." he then clears his throat in a rather harsh sounding cough "As for rules, if a door is locked do not open it. You must put in a request to use any workstations or materials outside of class along with a explanation of what you hope to do with them. And finally, never interrupt someone while their working in one of the labs." he tone serious as he nods "Today however you are only allowed to explore the floor below this one. You're not experienced enough for the much lower levels." he firmly states.
JACK: Say'ri does exactly as you say, you can practically feel her behind you, and you now are climbing the stairs to get to your quarters "I don't get embarrassed..." she protests defensively before sighing a little "Don't worry about it, you just..surprised me that's all." she says, her voice getting softer as her words come out. You can hear the clanking sound of the guards armor as they follow you up the stairs, one of them groaning quietly in the back "I can't wait to relax...I can't believe the school's guards look tougher than us..." he says defeated, to which the other guard laughs "Maybe compared to you."
Pablo: "That's quite alright Mr. Solomon, there has been a few delays with other students as well. Here is your room key, it opens up the dorm room 127 on the east hall upstairs." A soft-voice woman hands you the key, smiling gently "Your roommate is already there." There are a few other students standing around the lobby, some sitting by a open fireplace conversing while a few are reading books. The stair case leading to your room is the on the left, behind the dorm's office.
"Thank you Master Devenar. Farewell, and let the light shine forth." I look around on this floor, entering rooms quietly and looking for one where an experiment dealing with mechanisms, void-type magics, or thunder-type magics.
Pyromancy I think to myself remembering what I was told about my other halves abilities. before responding "Alchemy, Chemical Reactions, Transmutations right? "Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost." type of stuff right?"
"I still apologize, I have to remember I'm friends with someone important now. can't tarnish your reputation." I say looking back with a smile. "It was nothing by the way, just to throw her off, people usually make up their minds about me before they talk to me, so sometimes I like to surprise people by changing my personality when I meet them. She might not think of people like me the way she did before now. It's all trying to get people to get along." I turn around and start climbing the stairs backwards, "Don't worry about them, I mean, they're probably trained in the arts so I wouldn't want to fight them, plus if they're here you guys can just relax and look pretty, but your already doing that right?" I say with a smile before turning around again.
