After working on the last game (The Wanted List), and realizing how hard it was to manage, I've come up with an easier game to help our forums grow, while maintaining minimal effort to manage the game. This is still only an interest check, so comments and criticism are welcome.

Notes

  • Spamming the forums is still not tolerated.
  • Surge = (x - y) || x = total post count of all members after the month || y = initial post count of all the members before the start of the month

  • After every month, the surge will be reset.

Rewards

The reward for the overall winning team is a merit for each member, sponsored by your newly appointed moderator, @nichodemus!

I have a suggestion - How about the 'Surge' in comments and Merits in a month is also noted, assigned some value and counts for the total Surge of that company? This way it can be ensured that a person is active in the forums along with being an active gamer and is also getting merits for contributing to the amw section as it one of the main sources of merits. Assigning a higher value to the comments will ensure that a person will not spam as, then, just posting in the forums will be getting the company less surge than doing the same with helping people out in game comments. And merits will take care of exceptional contributions to the site. Can this idea be considered and/or modified to suit the requirement?

@akshobhya, perhaps not the comments, because that's harder to monitor for spam. Instead maybe adding quests inside.

Surge = posts + (quests x 5) + (merits x 25)

I thought that would be hard to update. While I like the idea of adding quests and merits a lot, I came up with 3 simpler challenges:

  1. If a member of one team writes a game walkthrough, that team receives a boost in their total.

If a member of one team joins ASC/Poetry contest, that team receives a boost in theit total.

If 3 or more members of one team make an entry in an Armatar contest, that team receives a significant boost in their total.

I like the third one a lot personally. Not only it provides an alternative to sheer number of posts, it most importantly promotes teamwork, something this game currently lacks. So far the team total is just the sum of each member's total. This is not only a different path to follow but can also allow Teams to win through coordination, even against a team with a greater total

I do not mind an increase in criteria - if it's going to help the Forums overall, go for it!

@Doombreed, if you're talking about the difficulty of management in the wanted list, it was hard because I had to always update the bribes. :/

Then you can easily fit the merits and the quests in the equation. but I'd love to get some feedback on the 'challenges idea.

Um, @SirLegendary, I agree with that. Maybe we can have Doom's suggestion and every proper entry counts for like +x Surge(s)? I like that idea to. It will encourage participation in the AMW. \
And, @nichodemus. please edit that earlier post of mine. I dont know why that happened and I closed the tab before noticing...

How about different challenges for more points? Something like which member could get the highest score in a certain game on this website, and the team the member belongs to gets points. Or maybe you could find a way to do a forum challenge that's more than just posts. Just an idea. The other idea I had was that maybe posting in different sections of the forums could count for more or less points depending on how much effort needs to be put into the post. The only downside is that it would be very tough to track who posts where.

@Doombreed Yes, I can easily fit quests and merit into the equation. About the challenges, I was thinking, when players join contests or what not, they will gain a x1 multiplier to their total surge at the end of the month.

Ok, I'm joining into the Candle light company, but one question I have left, will the posts from an user inside the forum games be only counted or from all the Threads and topics available or from this thread only?

@shafaet, anywhere in the AG forums. @SirLegendary, how about a X2 multiplier for the submissions?

@akshobhya

I was thinking more on challenges for one member of the team to complete to add multipliers to their overall score. Still working on it.

@akshobhya then there's really no worries about anything going wrong except for people just spamming down the whole forums to get more counts but I think 1 mod is enough to handle 10 people.

@shafaet Yeah this issue was brought up in the past posts, you can go ahead and read them. I'm creating measures to fight off spam when this games starts
