ugh the worm thing reminds me of something really freaky, so this isn't really off topic.

my friend's sister cut her foot on a shell at a beach on vacation, and a parasite got in the cut and actually layed eggs inside her foot. a week later you could actually see little tiny dots (the larva) going through a vain in her leg *shudder*
