Bronze Medal
Thankful for family.
Holiday with the most food.
Already happy with each other.
Not selfish or single-minded
Kind to the each other.
Smelling the food.
Giving to others.
Inviting the warmth of family.
Very special holiday.
In taking the smells of food.
Never insulting each other.
Gravy on turkey.

With a Hi! and a Hey!
We wake up in Thanksgiving one day,
and a High! Ho! Hey!
And a Dooby! Doop! this time of the year.
With a beat and a bop,
with no hurries,
we eat the stork,
eat without worries.
So with a:High! Ho! Hey!
and with the body in a stool,
we eat the turkey,
and the temperature's cool.
And a High! Ho! Hey!
for today's Thanksgiving day.
You know it this day,
for the turkey,
and the stork,
and the knives, and the forks,
and with a Hi! and a Hey!
Today's thanksgiving day.
A child comes by,
asking questions of time,
saying how did that got started,
who made this celebration be celebrated,
and you would say,
with a Hi! and a Hey!
that long time ago was it made,
and that they were happy,
and the natives were helpfull,
as they helped the English,
the Dutch, and the British,
as they said,
with a Hi! and a Hey!
that they happily helped,
for they were happy,
as the bread was baked,
and you said,
"Child, this started a long time ago,
ehn no light or computer was used by men,
when the bread was baked by hand,
and the food was made from scratch,
and with a Hi! and a Hey!,
saying:
"Have a happy day!, with a Hi, and a hey!"
We're happy today!

Gold Medal
As Thanksgiving Day rolls around,
It brings up some facts, quite profound.
We may think that we're poor,
Feel like bums, insecure,
But in truth, our riches astound.
We have friends and family we love
We have guidance from heaven above.
We have so much more
Than they sell in a store,
We're wealthy, when push comes to shove.
So add up your blessings, I say
Make Thanksgiving last more than a day.
Enjoy what you've got
Realize it's a lot,
And you'll make all your cares go away.

Platinum Medal
Red candles and orange flames,
Draw up the chairs, make merry,
Fine gentlemen, young dames,
Roll the barrels, pour the sherry.
Rusty Roman candle holders,
Creaking bones in a rocking chair,
Cobwebs hang, the mice grow bolder,
Glass of wine, old and rare.
Let's chant the soothing prayers,
Swoon over the butter and sweet gravy,
Fine suits from Virginia's best tailors,
Silver platters all laden heavy.
Hollow words in a frosty hall,
Empty pantries, dirty dishes,
Clothes unfit for a pauper small,
Tray with some rancid fishes.
Bright warm hearth fires,
Hearty laughter, carve the turkey,
T'is the night for culinary desires,
Good Sir, pass the chutney.
Soot and dust come and sneeze ,
Sharp coughing, pick at the scraps,
T's the night for past memories,
Good Sir, pull the thin drapes.
Amen, let's all begin the feast,
Thank the gracious Lord for our food,
Shelled green peas, roasted geese,
Alcohol to lighten the mood.
Amen, make do with what He gives,
Thank the devil for plagues of fleas,
Cans of beans, use the sieve,
Alcohol, to wash the grease.
Heavy goes a full being,
Sleep comes easy on soft pillows,
All give thanks for blessings,
Dream of serene waving willows.
Heavy goes a broken heart,
Sleep comes not on hard tiles,
All give thanks for ale, another quart,
Dream of the past and forgotten smiles.
Give thanks for what you have,
Give thanks for everything,
Give thanks for your loved ones,
Give thanks when you can.
Give thanks before the past catches up,
An old man broken for years,
Toast the present in grimy cups,
Thanksgiving for what you hold dear.
