First, I will post the overall rules, and then I will post the specifics about this week.
Original rules, as stated by Ubertuna:
It must fit the week's theme. It must be submitted by the deadline. It cannot have inappropriate language in it. It cannot be stolen (if you plagiarize, we will find you).
Also:
The poem must be created for this contest A user cannot win two weeks in a row (though everyone is welcome to submit every week!) Only one submission per user will be accepted
As we all know, the winner will recieve a merit, and their poem will be featured on the _Poetry_ page.
OK, on to this week's topic...Again, we are having a style instead of a theme. Also, this week we are having TWO WEEKS to do it, instead of the usual one. Why? Because this will be an EPIC poem. Or, rather, a parody of an epic poem. Generally, epic poetry is very long, and tells the serious story of a heroic figure. Well, this week, the epic figure is YOU! Write a long poem (I'll leave the definition of 'long' up to you, but give it a good go) about the heroic story of you! It can be silly, serious, whatever... just have fun with it. You have two weeks, so have a great time!
Good poem AG_king. Looks like you put last weeks and this weeks theme together. Fear and anxiety to go hand in hand and from the looks of your poem it seems like this week is already suited up to be an excellent week for poems.
Hmmm... The theme fits me... But I'm... I'm not a poet. I had something in mind, but I looked at it and thought, "Nah, that's not even worth reading."
Manta, anything you write down is worth reading. Writing is the windows to your thoughts and feelings...so how can you go wrong? You may look at it and think it's not worth reading where as we may read it and think "Wow ...beautiful" ... I think you should post it, but that's up to you.
Trying to sleep, writhing in pain, Non-important things like sunshine or rain. I worry about tomorrow, it's unbearable stress, I wish I wasn't freaking out, so my brain gets some rest.
_____________________Poem is above this line___________________________ I'm a very anxious person in reality, that's where this poem came from.
Stupid Face ===========================================
Do think it's just in the mind? Then your stupid. Do you think it's not a biggie? Then your stupider Stupid face You never knew people died from it? Stupid head Hey look your suffering from it. And you don't even know what it is? Stupid.
======================================== Anxeity ain't mentioned but you get the point.
@Wistress: Would you mind poking me with a link to the judging next time? Either that, or announce the judging, theme and deadline in the Announcement Board thread yourself? Neither is a problem to me, it is just to get it all official and all that? Why we have the thread, I mean?
What is my anxiety? My life is full of OCD. I check my door lock 20 times, I must always cycle between those lines. My live revolves round my OCD, it is my anxiety, It takes me 17 stirs to make a tea, Did I lock the door right? Maybe I should go and see. ____________________________________________________________________
I'm not overly OCD but some of the things like checking I've locked the door or my bike up etc. causes some anxiety and it was the first thing that I thought of with the theme.
You think you have bad OCD. I washed my hands 1,526 times in one day.
No like I said I don;t get it much at all (I'm all about the paranoia) Poems cans be fictitious too. If you look at my last one... no wait that is me >.>
trying to put up a light to read the writing on the wall my fixation is a dreadful sight I answer to no hearken or call
There's an untold story that I need to know lest I be left behind and oblivious not enough space, but no other place to go my want for safety and comfort so lascivious
every one of my faults magnified can't rest, too much pressure every possible evac failed and retried the waters of life stagnated, there are none fresher
A handful plus some of thoughtful poems so far ... nicely done! Remember, the deadline is Friday July 3rd, so we will hopefully see a few more posted before then.
