I work as a dishwasher/prep cook/host/waiter at a local restaurant. Reasons why I hate my job:
1.) My boss is an idiot who doesn't understand how restaurants work, despite having been a cook for 20 years.
2.) Some of the cooks are drunks who leave work early religiously.
3.) The other waiters/waitresses don't split their tips with the kitchen staff sometimes. There's one girl who probably owes me close to $300 in tips by now.
4.) We get a free meal for each shift we work, as long as it's under $8. If it's over $8, the difference comes out of our paycheck. (If you get a $10 meal, then you pay $2 out of your paycheck.) The problem is that it's an expensive restaurant, and the only thing under $8 is a hamburger with nothing on it.
5.) Changing the oil in the deep fryer is a #$*(&. I actually have burns up and down my forearms year-round because of it.
6.) I get paid minimum wage ($8.07) despite being a good worker, and having worked there for over a year.
7.) No lunch breaks. The local casino owns the golf course/restaurant, and the tribal elders decided that we don't need lunch breaks. If you can't take time off during your shift to eat, then you have to stay after your shift ends to finish the meal. No to-go boxes.
8.) Even if the restaurant and bar is dead, I can't sit in the bar with the other employees and watch T.V. because I'm not 21.
well heres one that is the only worse thing i could think of other than that list. If i go over the alpha 12 mark this could result in an extreme case of death.

well ive heard that unless your the boss working in a restaurant isnt very much fun. My mum was a waitress and said it was the worst job she ever had so i think it was an accurate reflection.
Yeah, working in a restaurant sucks, but I don't really have a choice. It's pretty much my only option. I could start somewhere else, but I'd rather not have to work my way up again.
I worked at a worse restaurant last summer for a month or two. I got trash cans thrown at me a lot, and yelled at, etc. But, we got paid under the table, so there weren't any taxes taken out.
Well, technically I have two bosses. One is alright, the other I mentioned in the list. The stupid one gets smashed before his shift even ends, and then comes in 5 minutes before closing with 9 of his also-wasted buddies. Then they decide to order the hardest things to prepare on the menu. This means that the cooks have to re-open the line, and if I'm on dish duty, I have to wait another hour for them to finish, as well as re-wash everything from the kitchen.
My auntie owns a pub in Worcestershire and when i was 15 i worked there for a 3 weeks to earn so e cash. I worked as a waiter and a dish washer so i will have to concurr. Dish washing was probably harder work but i hated being a waiter. It was so patronising and the people werent very frinedly. And your feet get tired from standing around from 6pm to midnight.
Yeah...I'm still mad that I haven't gotten a raise. The hostesses (I'm the only host) get paid $9.32, and they're getting a dollar raise at the end of the year...The only raise I've gotten is when the state raised minimum wage and it was mandatory.
I think i got paid £5.50 an hour so that like 11$. Then again i only did it for 3 weeks. Hats off to you fpr doing it full time. I now get paid £35k a year so thats 70 thousand US. Im alrite now i guess.
