America is in a 9 trillion dollar debt right now. And is growing even bigger every second. The Debt Count

I think that the only way we could solve our debt is to immediately stop all national charaites, and raise taxes on everything. What does AG think?

Maybe if you fellas decided to help the guy eating out of the dumpster rather than the rest of the world, the US wouldn't be in such a predicament. But that's just me.

That is also a huge problem. The US pays WAAAY too much attention to other countries that are damned anyways, and less time on America.

There are so many other social and economic factors than just stop paying $ to foreignrs cos thy are fucked. I would construct a decent argument against this but i am extremely tired and am going to bed.

I think that some of that money should go to the middle east!
still 9 trillion is a frickin LOT!!!!!Not even bill Gates can cover that!!USA should shut up and mind it's own business.Who cares if Iraq is bing run by a dictator!?USA is a woman not a man.Honestly,I am sickened by their actions. If they didn't make other countries mad then the trading canters would still exist! We wouldn't have to care about Iraq.We would've had a lot done!Maybe there would be flying cars with that 9 trillion or another trading center!Maybe even an elevator to the moon!

You disgusting, immoral, unpatriotic pig! How could you say things like that?
Do you even understand the reason behind the WTC attacks? It was based mostly on the freedom of religion, but also on other freedoms that America has. The only way to stop making those people mad would be to give up the very freedoms that this country was founded on.
Honest to god, you think Iraq has to do with all of this? Some, yes. All? No, a good deal of it has to do with the fact that Clinton set up our economy to fail... Democrats can't do anything.

There's a simple solution: remove all government control from the economy. This includes both regulations (except for basic safety controls on medicine and the like) AND stimulants - meaning no more government aid. Sure, there's a chance you can fail. But looking at places that have this type of economy, it would work quite well.

What the hell. Yea, lets blame the murder victims. It's not the viscous evil murders fault.

USA is a woman not a man.

And what is that even supposed to mean?

I don't know what the problem is. It's not social programs since republicans don't believe in them and our president is a republican. And our economy was better under Clinton then it had been in years. It was Bush that destroyed it. How to fix it? Not a clue.

Which is why we had what, a 12 trillion dollar surplus when he left office? Sounds like messing up the economy to me man. I'm still trying to figure out how the U.S. has managed to spend 21 trillion dollars in a little less than 8 years.

I honestly think that there are far too many factors to come up with a simple quick-fix solution to our deficit. Taxes won't work, because people need money to pay taxes first. Unemployment is at it's worst since the Great Depression, and without jobs, people don't have money to pay the taxes we need to get out of our rut.

I think we need to pull a Roosevelt and provide jobs for the American people, and once unemployment is down, we can stop handing out money for welfare, and focus that on our accumulating debts.

Wow, way to kick off a thread! XP

Lets get one fact straight, we will be in debt forever and always. We will not even pay a percentage of it. It will pile up and pile up with no real limitations.

That is also a huge problem. The US pays WAAAY too much attention to other countries that are ****ed anyways, and less time on America.

If we don't help out those countries, they will come back to bite us in the ass. Al Qaeda's miniscule numbers will gradually increase, and BAM! History repeats. The US is what really holds alot of this world of ours together believe it or not. We have to be unified, or we will all be destroyed.

I don't think it was that otherwise they would have attacked Islamic states that give more religious freedom. I think it was mainly that we interfere with their countries and their oil.

The "affects the future" argument only carries so much weight, if a president set up massive income taxes immediately it would very quickly affect the economy. Within a year of the crash the US was feeling the full weight of the Great Depression. Likewise, Bush Sr. increased taxes among a number of other things which should have adversely affected the economy. However, after Clinton came into office the debt leveled and went down a little, not that I actually like Clinton.

Democrats can't do anything.

Well said, except you forgot that Republicans can't do anything either.

Exactly, this is very much what we need to do. We also need to dramatically lower the income tax, remove the minimum wage laws (which when removed allow more workers to be hired), and allow free or reciprocal trade where possible (having protective tariffs encourages corporate inefficiency). We should also fix up the failed National Forest system which is similar to the stimulants, we build roads for logging companies that often cost more than the timber that they get and allow cattle grazing on public pasture until the grass and topsoil are destroyed, what a waste of taxpayer dollars and land.

USA is a woman not a man.

remove the minimum wage laws

Umm, no, I'm good. I work hard for the money that I get. Plus, working for a casino will mean that if minimum wage is removed, I'll be getting slave wages.

No one can do everything, not even a good percentage in my mind. We need to make a super party! The Democans! Nah, I like Republicrats XP But to be honest, even if both were put together, that would probably have minimal impact on our debt.

USA is a woman not a man.

I think the good ol' US of A is a hermaphrodite. Don't ask why, just go with it :P

Skilled labor is not a hard category to move up to, after taking a three week course three hours a day I get paid well above minimum wage and have a job with a very flexible schedule. The problem with minimum wage is that it denies people entry level jobs, a handicapped person will have a great degree of trouble entering the workforce, if an employer were allowed to let him enter at lower pay he could gain experience and a recommendation gradually working his way up the ladder to success.

You work hard for the money you get, but why should Uncle Sam get to take half of it away through taxes? If we removed most taxes workplaces would have more money to offer their workers, and the workers would have to give less of it up. The net result is that the workers have more money. Also, no business will give slave wages, their workers will just quit or strike.

A final note: casino pit managers can with a few years of experience pull six-figures, one of the few jobs that can do that without a high school diploma.

The Democans! Nah, I like Republicrats

How about the Demublicans and Reprocrats?

I think the good ol' US of A is a hermaphrodite.

A transvestite hermaphrodite.

First off, I don't exactly have a choice at the moment: I'm in high school, and wash dishes most of the time. Pretty sure I won't make 6 figures doing that any time soon, seeing as I don't pull in near as much money as a pit manager. Then again, I don't pull in any money.

Also, no business will give slave wages, their workers will just quit or strike.

And what about the states with no minimum wage requirements, who pay waitresses less than $3 an hour? I would consider that pretty meager.

I knew I shouldn't have added that random factoid...
Regardless, when you apply for a job in college or after an employer will like the fact that you did labor like such, as opposed to the kids who sat on their hands in high school, giving you an edge in better jobs. Look back again to my example of the disabled person, everyone has to start somewhere, even if that place is low-paying.

Waitresses are paid tips. Let's say that a waitress hosts six tables, each one seats a family/ person who will have a bill of forty USD, each table is cycled through in an hour and a half, and that everyone gives a twenty percent tip (which you should always give, unless the service sucked or was absolutely exemplary). The waitress would get 12 USD in tips every hour and 3 USD in wages, for 15 dollars an hour.

It's no problem, don't worry about it haha. You wouldn't have known that I was just working in high school.

And, to the second part of your comment, not so much. Waitresses have to split tips with the kitchen staff most of the time. It's 7% to each of the chefs on shift, 2% to the host/hostesses, and 2% to each of the dishwashers where I work. On a normal night, there's 3 chefs, 2 hostesses, and 2 dishwashers on shift. That's 21+4+4. They lose 29% of their tips each night. If, on a good night, they make $50-100 (I usually receive about $2 a night from each waitress when I wash dishes) in tips, they only receive $71 or less. This may be a lot, but when the waitresses need to support a family on those wages, every cent counts.

Plus, waitressing is one of the jobs with the biggest worker increase in 2007. This means that more and more people are relying on near-minimum wages to support families. Take out the minimum wage, and you take out food from children's mouths.
