(I am conservative, but i am going to attempt not to be biased, and just say what i saw...honestly).

Democratic Convention:

The speeches from people like the Senators, and Governors, and all those people who give speeches in build up to the acceptance speech, there speeches were OK. They were mainly just a long round of state the country's problems but not offer any solutions to the problems, just get the crowd riled up.

Hillary Clinton's speech: I want to comment on this one separately. Basically she was being a suck up to Obama, and just kissing his...never mind. Everyone could tel she was bitter about the speech, and she did not want to be up there, the way she presented it was awkward. Although, she did do a great job of stating what Obama was going to do and getting the crowd going. I think it was a pretty good job well done on her part.

Obama's Video and Speech: I thought it was very moving. When it started i was prepared to be a critic and scoff at him, but i said nothing. I just sat there and watched it, and i could feel sincerity from him, i may not agree with him, but the sincerity was there none the less. It was well put together, it did not just focus on one points, it covered everything. Along with a little life story. It was a great build up to the speech.

Obama did a good job on the speech, it was well said. He had some great lines, and i got the feeling he wrote it himself. He was very comfortable up at the podium, and very confident. he delivered it well and snagged the hearts of millions of people.

The pillars: Sorry, i just have to mention the greek pillars. You remember those? Yeahhhhhh...they were Styrofoam. Tacky?

Celebration: The confetti and fireworks were nice, but it had no balloon drop. The balloon drop is a long running tradition. Stupid?

Republican:

Lead up speeches to the acceptance speech:

Everyone was just rambling on about random hubalubub, and not really doing much of anything. It was kind of lame really.

Rudy Giuliani's and Palin's speech: They both did and excellent job. Rudy really got the Republicans going, and said everything that made them want to fly.

I thought he took every single Republican in this country and a lot of Independents and stuck them in his pocket. Palin, the same thing. She had great lines, delivered the speech well. And here is a shocking thing for politics: She stated problems, AND OFFERED SOLUTIONS :0.

Over all the both delivered brilliant speeches.

McCain's video and Speech: My favorite part was where he talked about his war experience...oh wait a sec...THAT'S ALL HE TALKED ABOUT. See that was the problem, he focused on one thing, and that one thing happened to be the one thing that the Democrats have prepared to beat him up about it. You know how they were complaining before that he was focusing to much on Vietnam, well he made a 7 minute video on it. I thought that was a mistake. As for his speech, it was good, it started out well. But then it went a little long. and i started to zone out. Which happens to be the reason i can not give much of a review on it.

The celebration: Very well done. Good choice of music, confetti, fire works, balloon drop.

Overall the democrats did excellent and really did what they needed to. they Republicans did well, but Rudy and Palin really made the convention amazing. They kind of saved the Republicans behinds.

So what do you guys think. Please only post thought out descrptive responses, this thread is not really designed for responses like :

"I totally agree".
"Cool".
"Thanks, this is really interesting".

I definitely agree with you that Obama's speech was moving. I'm pretty sure he wrote it himself as well. I made my mom, who was prepared to vote for McCain because she didn't want an inexperienced president, watch it, and there were tears in her eyes by the end. All she said was "This man is what the country needs."

I honestly haven't had time to watch the Republican Convention due to school starting and whatnot, but I caught Palin's speech. I honestly thought that a majority of it was just attacking Obama and trying to win woman voters.

Bidens speech was basically just a curb pounding to McCain. So was Palins, but hers was more catchy

"This man is what the country needs."

BiPolar? Joking, seriously, i am.

But, she changed fast. I though he made an excellent speech, but that does change the fact that a lot of his ideas and opinions are bull, and he is not what the country needs. I just thought he delivered it well.

i watched the majority of both conventions and i think that the democrats did a overall better job of convincing people to vote for obama. Im voting for obama and after mcain choose palin as his v.p and after the convention im sure obama is the right choice.

The Republican Convention is a joke. In both Palin and McCain's speeches hardly anything was said of their political agendas. Instead all they did was attack Obama. It was a joke.

McCain mentioned nothing of economic reforms, campagin finance reforms, immigration, etc. It was a freaking joke!

If speeches make a good politician, then Hitler and Mussolini are the greatest leaders the world has ever known.

Be careful not to put much emphasis on the speeches. What's more important is the issues, not how they say they're going to solve the issues.

dizzyk and opentotruth, i was going to shut you down but it looks like thelistman beat me to the punch.

But also they did mention as much stuff as Obama, and Obama attacked the just as much as they attacked him.

I heard him say three, maybe four things towards McCain. Palin's entire speech was bashing.

How else are we suppose to know their plans without their speeches? >_>
And Hitler was a good leader. Not nice, but sure was a great one!

Yes LOL, he had always hated Jews, so he has always been the way he always was as a leader.

There was actually some scetchy evidence that came out that might of proved that he was a Jew. It was just some random Jewish artifacts and what not, but it was there 0.o

There was also a Torah. (All this stuff was found in a chest in the attic). It was also thought that his grandma was Jewish.

It was his grandfather that was Jewish. Somehow I always think the world would have been a better place if Hitler hadn't flunked out of art school =/
