I happen to be a Christian in a 50/50 Christian-Muslim city here in Mindanao, Philippines...so far, no religious war has happened...yet! Situation is pretty tense here especially that the government refused to give back ancestral lands of the Muslims now mostly populated and progressed by Christians...
It's be so much eaiser if both religions weren't so god damned stubborn and set that they "are right and there is no room for neotiation" Also, both religions seems to place a strong emphasis on converting others, which leads to a lot of problems, when you try to convert people who don't want to be converted.
I say people should stop bickering and just get along. Doesn't matter what you believe in, we are all the same people. And we will find out if our beliefs were right or wrong after we are dead, for now lets be friends and enjoy our time on earth.
Well i am not saying i am opposed to equality and all that but i am definitely not a pacifist. I was ordered not to wear my uniform around town for fear of offending muslims. To be honest when i cannot wear a British RAF uniform in a British country for fear of offending a minority then something is seriously wrong.
I think people are too touchy these days, personally. Everyone always seems to want to be respected, whatever their definition of that word may be, by others, but then they disrespect the people they expect respect from.
I think Christians and Muslims could easily get along. Many of my friends at school were muslims and there are even some that i know who are currently fighting in Afghanistan. I think part of the problem is that people are very defined by their religion in some cases thinking of themselves as a muslim/christian first and a human being second. Until people accept people for their flaws be they muslim or chritian then we will never get along.
Ya I think the world needs to chill out. Too many people are way too up tight. "Omg I'm offended" get over it and don't be offended, can't be much more simple than that. I am a very easy going person and I don't get offended easily and If I do I'll get over it in a second.
Woody, Why do Muslims get offended by your uniform? I can't think of a reason why.
Its because of what i represent. Ie the British armed forces. Politicians were affraid it would offend British Muslims as there was one isolated incident of an airman getting verbally abused. But in these situations you have to be kind to the aggressors to highlight their ignorance i think.
Thats stupid. I think by avoiding wearing uniforms around them, you are reinforcing their idea that the whole airforce is bad. When It was just an incident. If immigrants are living in a country, it is understood that they moved there and are going to accept the country as is. If you went and slept over at someones house and got offended over everything, and were complaining, you would tell them to either suck it up and enjoy it because this is how your family likes their house, or to leave. Like it or leave it, very simple.
That's the thing, Flipski. Too many people want their needs to be catered too even if they have put themselves is situations where that is impractical if not impossible. They still expect every effort to take their feelings, thoughts, into consideartion. They want to be codeled like babies.
Since Muslims think The United States is "The Great Satan" then I'll go with no, we won't get along. And I guess since the US is fairly well associated with Christianity... I hope I'm wrong, and someday peace can be found between both sides.
This is like asking whether Satan and God will get along. The answer is a most-likely, NO! I just isn't possible in today's world. Back in the 1900's it would've been possible, but today people get offended WAY to easily.
