I think this is a great idea.if you like the user and add them that will give them the privilege to comment you.But if you don't add them you can't comment them. What I'm trying to say is that you can only receive comments from people you like.If you see a user cursing at everyone you don't add them. Then that way you don't have to put up with their cursing.
Well mabey if this rule was implied, firetail mabey wouldn't have closed his comments, and Starscreamer probably wouldn't have been banned. I actually feel bad for Starscreamer. He got banned because all the comments about being #2 just got to his head because of a bunch of A$$ holes were jelous of him. I think the people that bothered him should have been banned, not him. If this worked, I think that alot fo people including me would be happy.
I hope that he would have been saved from being banned. I never really knew him, but I just think that it's sad that people have to act like that for no reason.
@firetail- I thought you closed your comments and reset everthing on your page for the same reason SS got himself banned?
I don't think that only people who are on your friends list can comment you. What about new members? They would have no one to talk to. And a lot of people comment on my wall for help, but I only have a few friends actually on my list. If this was implemented, they would have no way to ask questions.
Perhaps if you had the option to block someone directly. But any other way would not be feasible.
The alternative to the blocking idea is to just inform a moderator or admin that someone's been seriously harrassing you. They will take action on your behalf, wherever they see fit, and then, bam, problem solve. Baaaaaaaaaan (or temp. ban!).
Then you have isolated incidences -- being in the top 10 can garner a lot of attention and for the most part, you can just delete the comments as they pile up. Albeit, blocking users would save time, but if there's already a function in place to combat that issue... so, why create another method that's just as good? It's a waste of time for the ones helping to build/maintain the website.
