First of all, no posting religious comments about how stuff is wrong in this thread. Of course everyone is allowed to state their opinion, but Christians and other religious people who just post about premarital sex, same sex relationships and other deviations from the standardized common norm is wrong because their biblething says so, tends to ruin the healthy discussion. So please, if you have nothing else to say, don't bother saying it.
I talked with Strop about getting this topic up and running, so... I don't think I'm not allowed to, though some of you youngsters may find it offensive. Please, if weird things about sex disturbs you, stop reading now. Kthnxbai.

Now, the actual topic of this thread is pretty wide.
Heavy reading about what paraphilias are: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paraphilia
But to sum up (info taken from Wikipedia's article):
* Exhibitionism: the recurrent urge or behavior to expose one's genitals to an unsuspecting person. (Can also be the recurrent urge or behavior to perform sexual acts in a public place, or in view of unsuspecting persons.)
* Fetishism: the use of inanimate objects to gain sexual excitement. Partialism refers to fetishes specifically involving nonsexual parts of the body (for example, feet).
* Frotteurism: the recurrent urges of behavior of touching or rubbing against a nonconsenting person.
* Pedophilia: a psychological disorder in which an adult experiences a sexual preference for prepubescent children, or has engaged in child sexual abuse.
* Sexual Masochism: the recurrent urge or behavior of wanting to be humiliated, beaten, bound, or otherwise made to suffer for sexual pleasure.
* Sexual Sadism: the recurrent urge or behavior involving acts in which the pain or humiliation of a person is sexually exciting.
* Transvestic fetishism: arousal from "clothing associated with members of the opposite sex."
* Voyeurism: the recurrent urge or behavior to observe an unsuspecting person who is naked, disrobing or engaging in sexual activities, or may not be sexual in nature at all.

For anyone that do not "suffer" from a paraphilia, most of that can probably sound - grotesque... But many people in this world have one or more paraphilias.

This AND the Homosexuality thread are both one of my "WTH?" moments. The most discriminated of actions are the hottest topics on the POLITICS forum? LAFF!! It's a good thing that people aren't getting flamed anymore for it though. *Gives a high-five @ Zophia for a good job in rounding up the culprit*

@thoad:
Well... Just a preference of drawn pornography as opposed to recorded?
I don't that's too uncommon... Heck, I'd rather watch a "hentai" than a porno film any day.
I actually very rarely watch porn, but... Well, I draw it...

Actually I do agree...there appears to be a strong division between hentai (a nipponisation, if that made-up term isn't offensive...no WWII vets here, right?) which I'm going to translate into "graphic, fictionalised" erotic material, and porn. Why? I can't make a general statement on that but I think there may be a couple of fundamental differences in the nature, or possibly trends in its presentation though to be honest I actually don't go out looking for porn; I'm operating on the assumption if you've seen a bit you've seen most all of it.

And yes nonconformist, tentacle porn could in a way be seen as a 'fetish' on cultural grounds, anyway. Seeing as it's quite a big thing...quite a lot of girls I know profess to liking it but guys generally don't (e.g. I know it's not my cuppa tea). Curious, that.

p.s. I suppose some people might find Mr Hands a worse example that 2girls1cup but that I would put down to personal tastes.

The most discriminated of actions are the hottest topics on the POLITICS forum? LAFF!!

Reminds me of something the guys and I noticed about high school english classes. Our teacher would always point out every single sexual connotation, especially the homoerotic references. None of us had the guts to ask why until one day I put my hand up and said, "Sir," (I went to a private school,) "why is it that there appear to be so many homosexual references in literature when studies suggest that homosexuality is in the vast minority?"

His reply would address your question as it did mine: "Well, it tells you a lot about societal obsessions doesn't it!"

Took me a while to understand what he meant but yeah, there you go!

That's the thing. We laugh at those that we consider very eccentric, however when confronted with the question, we are silent about it, probably in fear what the person who asked the question will think about. Yet, when there are places where people don't know you (e.g. the forums, or documents online), it can become a giant topic because in reality, they are VERY CURIOUS about the topic, but scared to openly discuss it in person. Very strange, eh?

No, but I don't search for porn, I draw it myself. So... Well yeah?

Tentacle stuff being much about penetration, not so many guys being fond of that?
Being turned on by the idea of tentacle sex would possibly classify as a fetish. Just one of the ones that is more focused on fantasies than actions.

@ShintetsuWA:
But discussing things in person is so much more fun sometimes... Especially with subjects like that of this thread...
... I was corrupted too early...

LOL

Unfortunately while I get the reference (you'll never read the KJV Bible the same ever again!), I have not read The Crucible...but I'll return fire with a passage from Conrad's Heart of Darkness

Once, I remember, we came upon a man of war anchored off the
coast. There wasn't even a shed there, and she was shelling the bush. It appears the French had one of their wars going on there-abouts. Her ensign dropped like a limp rag; the muzzles of the long six inch guns stuck out all over the low hull; the greasy, slimy swell swung her up lazily and let her down, swaying her thin masts. In the empty immensity of earth, sky, and water, there she was, incomprehensible, firing into a continent. Pop, would go one of the six inch guns; a small flame would dart and vanish, a little white smoke would disappear, a tiny projectile would give a feeble screech---and nothing happened. Nothing could happen.

At this point I do believe that the rest of the English lesson centered around penis jokes and firing blanks.

Tentacle stuff being much about penetration, not so many guys being fond of that?

That could be the case. I also wonder about the nature of the fantasy independent of the notion of penetration, the way it is presented to me seems to be something more sensual (in a way I cannot comprehend, as when I think octopus I think cold and slimy tentacles and how can that possibly be erotic *shiver*...no offense though, octopi are one of the coolest marine life out there!) Anyway, it might engage with the 'female' way of thinking moreso than the male one.

Yet, when there are places where people don't know you (e.g. the forums, or documents online), it can become a giant topic because in reality, they are VERY CURIOUS about the topic, but scared to openly discuss it in person. Very strange, eh?

Your challenge now would be to discuss this in person in such a manner that it does not occur to the person you are talking to that you are talking about 'strange, abnormal' stuff.

@Strop:
Lol at the passage.

I think tentacle fantasies (in the furry fandom at least) focuses mostly on the multiple stimulation... Generally they are portrayed holding their victims firmly and stimulating them till their minds give up...
The kind that actually revolves around real tentacled creatures (as octopi), I don't really understand... Haven't found any writing with it.

... One of these days I will have gathered too many ideas for a rule 34/ing of Strop... *dread
