Eternal Sonata Bioshock Blue Dragon The Orange Box Gears of War The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Mass Effect Braid Virtua Fighter 5 Online Bomberman Live
Dude, if you like stealth games, then you should try the splinter cell games. I think it's awesome, it's a mix of shooting, stealth and action. The newest one is double agent if you wanted to try it.
Test Drive Unlimited. It's a racing game based in Oahu (for your beach "craze", and you race cars anywhere from a Saturn Skye to a McLaren F1. There is free drive, and there is outrunning cops, so it's somewhat like NFS, but the cars are tunable only in the sense of performance, not looks, so no ground effects or anything. You can create your own courses for online play, and you can challenge people online, but there is no multiplayer function (which i still haven't figured out why...maybe there wan't enough space on the disk)
Another great game is NFS: Most Wanted. It is set on the basis of street racing, like all other NFS games, but the story is different. You basically build street cred by racing and outrunning cops, then race one of the 15 most wanted street racers. It's pretty neat, considering there is a chance to win the car you just raced...
From what i hear, the FEAR games are great if you and some buddies are up at 2 in the morning and what to get the living snot scared out of you...(I've never played, but it makes even the most hardcore gamers jump).
Don't be afraid of spending money. If you want to check out a game, go to Blockbuster or something and rent it first.
FYI, Eternal Sonata is RPG, which is NOT the same as adventure. The first time you play an RPG game SUCKS. There's apparently a certain way to play that i haven't figure out yet...
