Yes animals should have rights. They're living organisms too. How would you like it if you were a dog and you didn't have rights?

They were a people of excess not to be emulated. We have evolved past them.

Fallacious logic, violence and excess are becoming more and more common in our society. Fifty years ago, MMA would have been looked upon as barbaric. Now, it's high-quality entertainment.
Not all people. We have evolved past that.

Again - why is MMA such a popular form of entertainment if we don't enjoy violence? There may not always be blood, but this is only because of legalities. And in another fifty years, who knows? Mortal Combat Gladiators or something?
They are the only other animals, aside from us that is, that kill or have sex for fun.

Oh, really? And how do you determine whether something is for fun or not?
Logic would say if an animal died the others would leave it behind but what does it mean when a mother cradles her baby for days before finally abandoning it.

Not if you understand that animals don't have a set system to tell when something is "dead". That mother's instincts drive her to protect her young, even after death. She doesn't understand the concept of death, so she doesn't understand.

Pain is the problem..Or animal testing...Thats the only thing I go against..

Killing them is completely fine (even if they are dogs/cats/birds etc)

Its the natural circle of life..If another animal kills us then its just being hungry...

High quality or low brow? I only ask since I have no clue what MMA is. Either way as human beings evolve we evolve past our baser instincts. Sure they still exist, we are still primates after all. But we don't run around humping legs because we have the ability to control that instinct. We still have that animal like aggression that we need to work out. Which is why we have murders and boxers. But the beauty of evolution is that we are moving past that. We have the ability to ignore our animal instincts. Some people don't but we all have that ability.

Once again don't know what that is. Granted we are always going to have people who choose to use aggression and animal fury but the human race as a whole is moving towards intellectualism. Sure you will always have some people who would watch a death match of sorts but the majority of the human race would decry this as violent and brutally unnecessary.

Oh, really? And how do you determine whether something is for fun or not?

I assume you mean my example of dolphins. The scientists studied them for years and years. I'm not a scientist. I can only go by what they say. They are the experts. Opinions of the layman mean nothing in the wake of evidence or scientific observations.

Once again I'm going by what I see. Animals do indeed have a concept of death. Elephants are a great example of what I mean. They bury their dead. they even mourn their dead.

The example I gave before was not a mother whose baby died and she carried it around like it was alive and stayed with the group. It was mother sitting for something like four days just holding her baby. Not eating or moving or even going with her group when they left her. Just sitting and cradling her baby, not trying to get it to eat or get it to move. Just sitting there and cradling it in her arms for like four days before finally moving off. We don't know what this ape mother actually understood. We can't really know what was firing in her brain. But I saw an animal going against the laws of nature to simply hold her dead baby for days with even eating or moving. I've seen the same exact response in a human mother.

Easy win, lolz.

I don't get the above reference. And as for "retarded" entertainment I guess that's in the eye of the beholder. I do Sudoku puzzles. My sister thinks they are stupid. Obviously watching South Park is not really intellectual but that's not really what I meant.

Soduku is retarded in the sense thats its not 'cool', which is all kids think about, but surely its involves intellect, so thats a point against yourself.

Obviously watching South Park is not really intellectual but that's not really what I meant.

South park is awesome. Its funny.
I suppose 'retarded forms of entertainment' doesn't make much sense. But the kids these days really no nothing of the world. They are fixated on friends and ehh...thats it.

Well kids aren't stupid so much as just ignorant of the world, as you pointed out. You can't really blame them I guess. But I wouldn't really use teens at the mall as a representative of the human race lol.

Sure watching Adult Swim isn't intellectual but I listen to NPR so that helps me balance myself out haha.

South park is awesome. Its funny.

Meh, I stopped walking it a few seasons ago. It seems less about funny as more about the animators political message nowadays.
