Just some things I thought about, all to do with
*drum roll*
THE LINE OF NO-POSTLYNESS!!
Anyways, For newcomers, if someone puts a post like this

"This is being spammed. Nobody can post below the line of no-postlyness!
__________________________________________________________"

That just means they are reporting it to a mod or the like and want nobody to spam up the thread.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some other things I was wondering
Who came up with it?
Who came up with the name?
Why don't people ever acknowledge that mods and admins have the power to post under it?
What is my cat's name?
It's all about awareness people, all about awareness...
*wanders off into the forest*
there are actually many ways to post the line of no postyness. here are some examples:
____________________________________________
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
and of course, all of the above, but with the color blue, like so.
Or, in case you're attempting to stop a duplicate thread, make it a link to the one people should be posting in.
I understand skater kid. That is 100% right and often happens...
By the power vested in me, I now proclaim this...
Line of POSTLYNESS! A line that does absolutely nothing except make sure you post under it!
seriously, when people do that it pisses me off so much. one of the big rules when there's a thread that should be locked is that you flag it and report it to a moderator, and then you don't post in the thread. really, sometimes there are topics that can be saved, but they are then ruined when people say:
DO NOT POST UNDER THIS LINE!
uh Lige, You, me and someone else did that and ruined a Pepsi vs Coke one. So it's also your own fault! Ha! Also, do you expect me to flag every single comment in a thread? No Way... Hey maybe we should be able to flag a whole thread in general...
ok, no more of the blame game...
I have never told people to stop posting in a thread. also, you don't need to flag all of the comments in order to get it locked. if a comment is flagged, and a mod sees it, they will most likely read the whole thread, or at least most of it to see if it should be locked. also you can report whole threads to moderators through their comment box.
The line of no-postyness is quite stupid because it is technically telling a moderator to lock a topic, which is quite pointless.
As I see it, the lines are there to make people aware of a thread that is going off track, or where there is no longer need to answer (in question threads). I usually don't make one without trying to be on topic too - otherwise they are pretty much spam and should have been a comment on a mod's profile instead (which, btw, gives you twice as many points as posting a line, so... seriously).
But to get back to the first sentence, yeah... If people see a line, they should REALLY reconsider whether whatever they are going to say is important enough to get the thread back on track.
