If it is for newcomers,it should be in the newcomers forum. And there are 7 lines of no-postlyness over here! You should stop posting just cause of 1,why not stop with 7!?
I understand skater kid. That is 100% right and often happens...
By the power vested in me, I now proclaim this...
Line of POSTLYNESS! A line that does absolutely nothing except make sure you post under it! _________________________________________________________________________
seriously, when people do that it pisses me off so much. one of the big rules when there's a thread that should be locked is that you flag it and report it to a moderator, and then you don't post in the thread. really, sometimes there are topics that can be saved, but they are then ruined when people say:
DO NOT POST UNDER THIS LINE! _________________________________________
uh Lige, You, me and someone else did that and ruined a Pepsi vs Coke one. So it's also your own fault! Ha! Also, do you expect me to flag every single comment in a thread? No Way... Hey maybe we should be able to flag a whole thread in general...
ok, no more of the blame game...

I have never told people to stop posting in a thread. also, you don't need to flag all of the comments in order to get it locked. if a comment is flagged, and a mod sees it, they will most likely read the whole thread, or at least most of it to see if it should be locked. also you can report whole threads to moderators through their comment box.
As I see it, the lines are there to make people aware of a thread that is going off track, or where there is no longer need to answer (in question threads). I usually don't make one without trying to be on topic too - otherwise they are pretty much spam and should have been a comment on a mod's profile instead (which, btw, gives you twice as many points as posting a line, so... seriously). But to get back to the first sentence, yeah... If people see a line, they should REALLY reconsider whether whatever they are going to say is important enough to get the thread back on track.
