Personally, I think the world would have been better off without it. But some, sadly, need religion. They need "truth" fabricated, instead of thinking for themself. I take the evidence presented to me, and come to a conclusion based on facts. "Faith" is a word to keep the illution of truth at place. I KNOW most disagree, since many are religious. Religion has done some good, but in my opinion, it has done far more evil.
Now people have prisons to be afraid of instead of hell, so atheists still have to obey the law.
Of course. That proves that without religion people will do 'bad' things. If there were no system of moral codes back in the day it would have been an even more brutal world.
So... God created free will, which created evil. Some believe that religion created God (which created free will, which created evil). God must have known that free will would create evil, though. (Murphy's Law) Given enough time and true randomness, every possible outcome will happen. An omniscient mind would know this. So God still inadvertently created evil, although he created many, many good things in the same package. The people who say that religion created God could also say that religion created evil, right? Prove me wrong with another one of your uber-philosophical explanations.
Hmm, I was reading a book and i guess i can kind of answer this. It's called Black it's by Ted Dekker, anyway I'll give you a quick overview. It's about a world where man fell again, were back to the Garden of Edenish. Anyway Evil is confined to one forest and is present in the form of bats (demons, devil) Good and God in another. Well one of the angels (who are white bats) tells God one of the people is going to drink the water in the evil forest, God just frowns and says don't stop him. Now you may think why? God had a chance to do something but why didnt he? Well simply because God loves our worship and he loves us, so much that we wont stop us from doing something we want to do. He wants us to love him by choice.
About the God made an accident well no, again he loves the angles he gave them the choice to do what they wanted, Lucifer wanted to be God, now obviously he wouldn't stand for that he made hell which was originaly just for the devil and his fallen angels.
Of course. That proves that without religion people will do 'bad' things. If there were no system of moral codes back in the day it would have been an even more brutal world.
Remember the whole thing about Cold being nonexistent? Cold is simply the lack of heat. There is no negative on the Kelvin scale, so that means there is a limit to how cold it can get. So how could there be a limit to cold, yet there isn't one on heat? That must mean that Heat must be the determining factor to temperature rather than cold.
Evil is the same way. Evil is the lack of Good.
In that aspect, then, God didn't create Evil. Man simply wasn't being as good as he could be. God created free will solely for the purpose to give them the choice either to worship or reject Him.
Would you rather have someone want to be your bf/gf, or would you rather that they be your bf/gf whether he/she likes it or not? (please, choose the former, it would prove my point =])
So God made free will, which gave man the chance to do less good. Is He the root of all evil? Not a chance!
"While I'm against Religion, I do believe in Jesus Christ. His life on earth was an example of love, and His miracles and resurrection proved that He was Gods Son."
Lol? What crazy meaning do you have of being "against religion"?
I dont like to use the terms good and evil as it sounds too much like a fantasy rpg. I do belice that there are certain things which are right and wrong.
As far as I can see the only religion that isn't "evil" is Buddhism. It is no where near as violence orientated as the some of the other major religions. At the start of the crusades when the pope was questioned by the soldiers about the legality of killing the muslims in the Holy Land (first commandment) the pope replied by stating it was ok because the commandment only applies to killing humans and since Muslims aren't humans its oko to kill them and you will nit go to hell.

Valid point, but, that was the religious leaders using that to their advantage. It doesnt actually say that in the teachings of the religions themselves.
Also not only did they say they wouldnt go to hell, but that they would spend less time in purgatory for every muslim they killed, so they actually encouraged people to kill.
I like India. They are the only people who actually believe in self improvement and being nice to others.
Are you joking me? After the partition of Pakistan and India amd the Sikhs, Muslims and Hindus massacred each other in their thousands in an extremely brutal manner often by burning people alive. They have had many wars since.
Yah but the Muslims deserved it.... Look at how well India is doing compared to Pakistan and Afghanistan now that they got rid of all the haters. Just because they are a peaceful loving people doesn't mean that they wont fight back when attacked by a people who want to kill all non Muslims.
So now it's attack the christians? And thank you woody you seem to be the only one who gets that usualy it's not the religion itself that is evil. Anyway like I said before if anything it's the absense of religion thats the root of all of evil.
@Pixie your saying the YMCA, the red cross, christians, mormons, Catholics, and Jews don't do anything good???
Yah but the Muslims deserved it.... Look at how well India is doing compared to Pakistan and Afghanistan now that they got rid of all the haters.
Not really, there was equal violence from all sides, some started by Muslims some started by Hindus. If anything it was the fault of the British for handling the whole situation so badly.
Trust me if you have been to India like i have and seen the poverty you wouldnt say that. There is so much poverty and it is unbeliveably overcrowded. The average number of childrn per woman is 6. The living conditions in the cities are horrible, its like going back to Dickensian London.
