Personally, I think the world would have been better off without it. But some, sadly, need religion. They need "truth" fabricated, instead of thinking for themself. I take the evidence presented to me, and come to a conclusion based on facts. "Faith" is a word to keep the illution of truth at place. I KNOW most disagree, since many are religious. Religion has done some good, but in my opinion, it has done far more evil.
Note that I said it would of been interesting with proof. As far as science goes.
I have heard and read countless stories where someone gets cured of some disease, gets a railroad spike in the head and suffers no problems, a man getting away with killing his wife...wait. That was O.J. Simpson.
ok i'll try posting the link again and moegreche, you seem like one of those scientific poeple not a faith type person, there is no use arguing with you because you have your mind set on what you believe, and thats good.
here is the link again hopefully it will work this time
Is there a difference between me having my mind set on my beliefs and a christian having their mind set on faith-based things? I mean, besides the fact that I'm right?
Well, I will let Moe respond. But I do want to say it isn't really healthy, in my opinion, if someone has their mind set in the manner you are speaking. Having an open mind and being able to realize that things may not be the way you believe them to be shows high intelligence to me.
Moe that is the point i was making, you have your mind set on your beliefs in the same way a catholic or christian or someone of any other religeon would...i think its good to have what you believe set on a sturdy base
but it is also good to have an open mind about certain things asherlee i agree with that, but some things you just have to stand firm with
Right. I stand firm that god does not exist. That's only one of my beliefs that I am absolutely not flexible on. Open mindedness comes in on things that are actually plausible.
It can be hard to be firm set in some beliefs but also be open minded.
Example: Suppose I love Stawberry Jell-O, but have never had and probably never will have it with vegetables floating in it because it is nasty. Now, suppose Aunt Martha comes over with strawberry Jell-O that has floating vegetables in it. Am I going to try it or knock her unconscious, flush the Jell-O and check her into a nursing home? Decisions, decisions.
that was kind of a confuzing analogy but i think i understand it
i agree it can at times be very hard to stand firm on some things but be open minded with most other things, there will always be people out there that completely go against what you believe in, but you just gotta keep standing firm no matter what they tell you
